Richard is such a shy actor! But that is what attracts me to him as a special celebrity out of all the others!

I know, right? That's what I kept thinking watching him in his "Hogwarts interviews." ;) He's very handsome and sooo boyishly cute at the same time, that I too want to pinch both his cheeks. Hahaha

I love this interview. I love the indepth discussions about characters much more than reporters asking the same banal questions about the costume and the HFR and how was it working with Peter Jackson blah blah.

I wouldn't say being shy precludes one from being an actor. It might be just that the acting is so fascinating to him intellectually, as he seems a very thoughtful person, that he feels a compulsion for it and he can switch off whatever persona he creates in the project. I recently got to his seasons in Mi5/Spooks...ho-ly cow. Also...word is that there's going to be a reboot of "The Crow"...I could see him taking on the sort role that Michael Wincott occupied. Dream casting, there, I know.

Fun Fact: Viggo was asked to play Aragorn in 3rd Hobbit movie and his answer to Peter Jackson was: "That isnt possible.Aragon(or Thorongil, how he was called in Gondor during that time) is not in The Hobbit". Even though i agree with him i would like to see him as Aragorn again.

Love it how his lips make this move while he's waiting for the interviewer to finish her question as he was about to answer.

When you see a man like this, it has a tendency to set your expectations high for all other men. ;) I would like to see him do some more period dramas. Love him in that genre as well as Tolkien's works.

Agreed...one of the things that makes him so appealing. I hate all the oversized egos found on even D-list celebrities who strut around, saying, "Yeah, I know I'm the sh*t." Though, I do hope he gets more roles in bigger productions...so long as they're worthy. I'd personally like to see him get a few villainous roles...or anti-heroes, at least.

I finally got around to watching Strike Back, Richard was awesome in that show, played the ultimate hero. Was sad to see his character killed off in the second season. But The Hobbit explains why i guess. Only after that show did I discover he is the guy behind Thorin lol. I'm a fan now, eventually I'll get around to watching all of Spooks. I hope to see him in more stuff after The Hobbit.

There was someone (I think from fark.com) who suggested he play Dougal MacKenzie in the upcoming "Outlander" series adapted for cable...THAT'S definitely some dream casting, right there.

Damn skippy, he does. I'd wish for some great roles that would allow him to grow his hair too, as he was speaking of in the Cinemax 60 secs bit.

yeah he is! And I don't believe he doesn't get recognized!!! I don't understand why he's so shy....Can't be an actor and a shy person at the same time I think! :) Anyway...adorable

If you put photo's of him in North and South next to pictures of Daniel in The Woman in Black it is uncanny. Richard is like Daniel's slightly hotter, taller older brother with the baritone voice. It's nuts.
