Cooperatives (the English word for Genossenschaften) aren't a uniquely German phenomenon. I agree that they are generally a good thing. But unfortunately they are not a panacea. With a population that is not aware of why cooperatives are needed, even the best cooperatives can often not compete against companies recklessly employing unfair business practices. A more fundamental problem is that cooperatives can degenerate in exactly the same ways that a democratic state can degenerate, and will do so much faster if they do not get a lot of attention. Unlike public elections, I have never, ever been able to make an informed decision in the internal elections of a cooperative (or my German public health insurer or similar elections). This problem could perhaps be solved by a single, huge cooperative taking over large part s of life and correspondingly getting a lot of attention. Or several of them competing with each other. But even so this could run afoul of anti-monopoly legislation.

@samaval9920 I'm sure China is using mixed economy. China struggled as a fully socialist country and economy under Mau or whatever his name is. They changed their plan, allowing investors to invest. China isn't soley socialist economy. Might be socialist country when it comes to rule of law to it's citizens, but definitely not socialist when it comes to it's economy.
