I could only stand 3-4 minutes of the new MacGyver and then I just changed channel to the original they were showing on the ther channel. Despite knowing what the plot was all about I watched the entire episode while taking a trip down the memory lane of my childhood. You are the one and only MacGyver Mr Anderson!

He and Tom Selleck seem to be of the same mind. I'm glad that the two are very honest about their feelings and refused to be manipulated and used to prop up the cash grab reboots. These guys and their casts and crews worked so hard on these shows and of course they're protective of the shows and their fans. Kudos to them both.

I didn't know the original MacGyver was a hit across the pond. I agree with his assessment of the new MacGyver. Magnum and MacGyver should have been left alone.

The original MacGyver never needed an entire team. Aside from teaming up with his friends every once in a while (Pete Thornton, Jack Dalton, Penny Parker, etc), MacGyver was a one-man force.

I just finished watching all 10 seasons of Stargate SG1 for I think the 3rd time, I just love the orginal cast.

I ve always watched Macgyver when I was in secondary school. It was fascinating, it was my best series on TV.

They could have had Richard Dean Anderson as the dad of the new MacGyver and that would have been a respectful way of passing the torch but the show just wanted to go the young, more hip, more cool route and make the new Macgyver his own thing.

Back here after 3 months to announce that both the reboots of Magnum and MacGyver are officially off the air and didn't match or beat the runs of the originals. Tom and Richard were right, you can't beat what they and their amazing cast and crew did all those years ago and they still hold up better than most shows now will in the future.

His 70th birthday is next year. So he is still 69 until then. But so lovely! I´ve met him twice at conventions and I can tell you it was a dream come true! Oh and I´ve met Amanda too at a convention where he also was. She´s so sweet! Her hair was longer back then (2014) and brown. With that short hair she looks more like her Sam Carter character from Stargate. And no I don`t watch the MacGyver reboot that would be too hurtful for me as a fan of the orginal show from the 80s.

The old school MacGyver is like TV show comfort food for me. I go back to it at least three times a year. I tried watching the new show for the first season got about six episodes in and I was done.

It would be absolutely wonderful to see a well written New SG1 and have some cameo appearances of the original actors especially Richard & Amanda. Until recently SG1 was on TV. I was still watching - especially the early shows - and I'm 71.

Should have been a continuation of the franchise instead of an alternative universe reboot. The new MacGyver should have been Angus MacGyver's grandson with RDA appearing occasionally as the grandfather just like RDA had his on screen grandfather a few times in the show. They also completely rewrote Jack Dalton's character. They also should have retired the Murdoc character and created a new one unless they brought back Michael Des Barres for a one off special tribute. I hate it when they try to reinvent shows for the "younger" audience instead of continuing the story.

He is the only real macgyver who gave us memorable childhood time, the new one is nothing compare to the original.

I have no plans to watch the newer MacGyver or the newer Hawaii Five-0 show. I love to watch the originals... Richard Dean Anderson and Jack Lord, all the way. Amanda Tapping is looking great. I'd love to hang out with Richard and maybe, play some table hockey. I love that game, but I have trouble finding someone to play it. It's not as cool as the one that was on MacGyver, but it gets the job done.

Yeah the new one has so much going a lot of character drama and dialogue, the old show was much simpler easy to watch. I hope they can remake a new macgyver with the spirit of the original. Meanwhile the original and all seasons are available for streaming. In the 90s we had to wait for Macgyver to come on tv 📺 it used to be on every day when I got home from school at 4pm

Now that I'm in my 50s I'm devastatingly worried about what happens if I live many more years. Health issues may prevent that, but seeing RDA like this at 70 makes me realize the stereotype old person hasn't been that way because they grew up in a different era. RDA is close enough a contemporary to myself that I realize I'm a decade or so away from being the old people i used to think were off center a bit. It is age and not Era according to my solutioning :)

Macgyver was a nerd with a good looking face. It was a time where you didn't want to be label as a nerd and he helped to change that. Nowadays, everybody want to be a nerd, so the plot is not attractive anymore.

In some way they should have had him as a consultant( like a certain Colonel was on an etreme show), maybe make a cameo as the "new" Mac's Uncle. Though I have to give props for the George Eades' character as backup to MacGyver as I thought that sending him alone was kinda stupid, even though capeable, it is good to have someone watching your six.

Never bothered to watch baby face MacGyver. Not a fan of the new trend of remaking old shows with main actors much too young to be the person and from what RDA says, they get it all wrong. There is a KZfaq video of him talking to a guy in a grocery store parking lot. There is Richard Dean Anderson, loading his own groceries from his car (of course) and taking the time to give his thoughts on the new MacGyver and his favorite MacGyver episodes. And, he was man enough to admit that the one where MacGyver made an airplane would never have flown, and cited the Mythbusters episode on the same. He's the best.

I watched the original as a teen and loved it. The new one was decent at first but then they got lazy. Every other episode was one of Mac's enemy from the 80's version and then the cast got moved around, then it became all fake technical crap. The same reason I quit watching Scorpion was why I stopped watching the New MacGyver. I am in IT, have been since the 80's. It is all so damn fake and it drives me crazy. The original was at least plausible in most things. I went back to college to learn Ethical Hacking. None of the stuff they do is legit. None of it. Even MythBusters proved most of the original solutions were at least possible, none of the new ones are. I miss the old days of Simeon and Simeon, Magnum PI, MacGyver, Ripe Tide, and shows like those, where logic figured out the bad guy over technology doing it now. Every show seems to be hacking a security camera to crack the case and that just isn't how it works. I have installed 16 Security systems over the years for businesses, and not a single damn one is internet connected. Even if they were, you can't remotely connect to one without going there physically to find out info about the network first. I hope SG1 comes back soon. Damn I miss that show.

Richard Dean Anderson will always be MacGyver to me and despite the MacGyver reboot with Lucas Till as the new MacGyver. Nobody or nothing could ever compare the original MacGyver to the new MacGyver. Not ever. Richard Dean Anderson is and always will be the one and the only original MacGyver that not even Lucas Till could ever compare with. I would have liked it very much if Richard Dean Anderson would have been part of the new MacGyver reboot but guess he's not. Which is a real shame. And I hope that Lucas Till met with Richard Dean Anderson about the new MacGyver reboot and discuss how Richard did it and get some kind of pointers or advice on how to play a character that Richard originated in the first place. Richard you will always be our MacGyver and nobody will ever be able to play him better than you.

Always like the original Macgyver and I like the new one also. Always liked Magnum P.I. and like the new one as well or better. Similar characters but a new time and new technologies. It is difficult for the original casts to let go of the past and move on. Just like the Bond movies with multiple actors who have played the role. Enjoy them all and have fun.
