Richard Fortus of Guns n' Roses fame recently stopped by The Music Zoo for a guitar clinic, presented by Paoletti Guitars and D'Addario! Not only did he give us an in-depth look at how amazing his signature instruments with Paoletti are, but a great insight to what it's like playing on stage with one of the biggest bands in the world. Thank you for coming by, Richard!

I remember you Richard from Fern Ridge grade school, I think you left class at times for violin lessons with June Yang? Glad to hear you came back to STL.

Check out his work with Richard butler in the band love spit love. His guitar work in the song codeine is phenomenal. He also produced the latest album made of rain by The Psychedelic Furs.

I wish there had been someone in the audience that was familiar with Richard’s work in Love Spit Love and had asked some questions about that particular era. Perhaps some day Richard will do some kind of symposium to discuss that era and his amazing playing as well as co-composing with Richard Butler. I saw that band twice and was blown away by the entire outfit. Richard really shined in that band.

Richard Fortus produced the new album by The Psychedelic Furs. It's Called Made of Rain. The song Wrong Train is great. It looks like it's as close as we're going to get to new LSL material. Rich Good does some fine guitar work and Mars Williams really shines on Saxes. Richard Butlers voice, rough but elegant and better than ever.

Roasted takes that sticky lacquer finish off and makes the neck feel like baby powder smooth…. And sound louder tonality wise… not having finish makes the sound properties louder…. This guy is spot on with how backward Leo had some things

When he asked the guy if he was a fan of Robby Krieger, he asked it in almost a condescending way. Like a "you actually like Krieger, huh?" Sorta thing. Bug fan of Fortus though. He's the guitarist I've seen perform live the most

I don't know if the effect pedal is doing it or the guitar is, but it is compressed to the max, sounds good though.

I don’t understand why more string behind the nut would mean there was more tension in the lower strings - can anyone explain that?? (I’m sure Richard knows what he’s talking about though!)
@wolfie316781
@wolfie316781 3 жыл бұрын
Reason is that the flipped headstock increases the Length of the bass strings requiring more tension to bring it to pitch
