Bought a Border barrel, 30” .223 1/8 twist back in 2005 and I could not be happier. I shoot international TR rules. .223 with 80 grain Sierra Match King out to 1000 yards, iron sights only. It cost a lot to get here here to the USA but, as my UK friends told me, it is worth it. Indeed it is/was.

My long range rifle is truly an international build, built to specific UK TR rules. It is based on a Remington 600 action trued by George Vais, a Greek, formerly USA, gunsmith, a Border Barrel (Scotland), Canadian laminated wood stock, German Ghemann rear iron sights, front sight sight Anschutz, trigger Remington worked over by George Vais (Greek), but it shoots American ammo loaded by me. 80 grain Sierra bullet, Winchester brass, Hodgdon powder, and Remington 7 1/2 primers at 2970 fps. Good out to 1000 yards if I do my part reading the Wind.

Hi Richard. I also have this I used my brother in laws load with three different bullet types in my .260 all three bullet types shot in exactly the same place. 34gr N140. 140 Amax, 142 SMK and 123 SMK also going to work on a load with 123 Amax but to be honest won't be hard as I'll just seat and loa the same as all the others. The 142 and 140 were most accurate with a little tweaking I believe they would bug hole. All the best James P.s. Will add link to video showing targets shot. These were first fifteen rounds fired through rifle also, have since finished fire forming new lap brass and just loaded second batch so will test on target again to see results. Then go forward from there. I believe they will tighten up tbh.

Very informative video Richard. Thank you for taking the time to make it! I wanted to mention something in regards to your seating depth test at 350 (you were discussing it around 16:00). You mentioned that since none of the groups were larger than 1" that the seating depth window was fairly large. However, I would like to claim that is an inaccurate way of looking at it because the group very well could have opened up to a larger amount, but that the randomness of the wind COULD have brought it back in line. The difference here would be that if the bullet wanted to go right in wind pushing it to the left, you wouldn't notice, but if it did so without wind, it would show up on paper. Of course this is just a possibility and not an indisputable fact, but I believe that it should be one that is considered. Regardless, great shooting and congrats on the amazing rifle! I have recently subscribed and am going to spend time watching your other videos.

+ashiha Yes that's certainly valid logic. But you get a feel for things and on that day I could tell what I needed to tell. Other tests confirmed this. Best regards, Richard

Richard, you must be super pleased, have you ever thought about doing a video on how you develop loads? As a relative newbie to reloading I would find it extremely useful. Thanks for the vids

hi Richard Steve also put a sassen border barrel on my .223 1 in 8 twist 24 inch. it loves the 77grain TMK 24.5 grains of n140 is giving me 2830fps really good results on vermin with the TMK .Let us know how you get on with them and would you rate them better than the a-max. great videos keep up the good work

This is weird to see that your barrel is whipping horizontaly, usualy changing the powder charge moves the POI on the vertical axis mostly. Are you sure it was not the wind ?

Hi Richard. Sorry to bother you again but what neck thickness gauge are you using? It looked like the Sinclair unit but they also have a pretty slick Digital unit that lays down horizontally. Still haven't had much time to play with the 21st Century Neck Trimmer but work will settle down here soon and I can spend some time with it. The 30 Degree cutter sure doesn't seem to match up very will with my shoulder angle on my 6 x 47 so I will investigate that further. Hope all is well on your side of the pond. Jimmy G

+roy jennison Thanks Roy. I've been down that route and prefer to paddle my own canoe, my friend. Videos last forever and are searchable....a paper magazine is what....? And I'm not beholden to any advertisers whatsoever here

After watching this video I am so pleased to use an off the shelf rifle with factory rounds.....

+The Essex Hunter lol you Essex lads are only good for about 2moa normally anyway ;) No TBH modern quality rifles with modern quality ammo are very solid and that's all good. We're just looking for every little bit bud and also using bullets and calibres that aren't available as factory stuff. Cheers, Richard
