Nothing worse than a middling team. I’m happy we did a clean break and reset. Mayo has a lot of potential along with some young talent. Who cares if we pick high one more year?

Its a rebuilding year, I’m not expecting playoffs or anything even close. But I’m excited for the fresh start and young talent we just brought in. Let the young guys play, see what we have, and keep building. I’ll love BB forever but a new era offers hope. Go Pats!

And the only reason he was a top 10 draft choice for NE is because SF had traded that pick to NE the year before. NE was coming off of their 18-1 season when they drafted Mayo. The 20 year run NE had under Belichick will likely never be seen again. Also taken in that 2008 draft by NE....Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell.

I hope the talk about winning the job is just Coach Mayo talk for "he's not starting we're gonna protect him" PLEASE. Cus I really believe Maye could ball out in a year or two with some development and adjusting. Let's not rush it, let's be ok with maybe not being competitive yet.

I love the Maye pick. He reminds me of a a combination of Gronk with all the brothers and personality of the field. On the field and his accent he reminds me of Brett Favre when he was a kid.

A Bill coached pats team won 6 superbowls went 9x to the superbowl and I can't even remeber the number of afc east titles. Mayo has none of that so I think that's the biggest difference.

If you compare Drake and Mac you must have not watched any snaps of both of them. They are nothing alike except that they are young white dudes. Mayes arm is 10x bettwe and he has waay better athleticism.

@@thedyingfetus9493 they have a lot more in common than just that. Give Maye time to develop and build around him. Maybe you’ll have something. Rush him out there and you’ll have the same outcome as Mac Jones. They could have had 3 first round picks and more but they wanted their guy. We’ll see if it works out.

@@teejlove6109 I've watched a lot of tape on Maye, you're right in the fact that Maye plays with the same kind of nervous energy that Mac played with. They also both tend to try and play hero ball. However that is where the similarities end. Maye is 100 times a better overall Athlete than Mac, Maye's arm strength blows Mac's out of the water. Last season when Mac tried to do too much because the offense around him was terrible he would completely fail because he lacked the athleticism to execute the play effectively. Maye in the same situation got his horrible team to an 8-5 record because he was the best ATHLETE on the field every game. However I do agree he needs time to develop into an NFL starter and should definitely sit out most of if not all of the coming season. If he's developed properly, with the level of athleticism he inherently has, the sky is the limit for this kid.

I do sadly agree with you. I completely think we should have traded back for additional picks and gotten actual weapons. Our wrs/Tackle pick MAY hit, but I don't think it's that likely. Just like what you're saying, it's most likely a Mac Jones situation where there's potential there and then he's surrounded with 0 talent and a new coordinator

The future looks bright with mayo. He’s smart & can relate to players because he once was one. He realizes he doesn’t have all the answers. He learns a little bit from everyone. But he picks the best players & doesn’t grasp at long shots like belichick did. As good as belichick was as a head coach he was an absolute failure as a gm. This was the 1st draft in many years that there wasn’t any head scratches

@@obamacare4811 Same here, he was a very good player, especially in BB system. And I wish him well as a HC. I just have to point out the obvious PC BS. We have no idea how this is going to play out. But being the guy after the guy rarely works out , for both players and coaches.
