MHJ was ALWAYS going to go #4 to the Cardinals & Harbaugh was NEVER not going to take Alt at #5 so if the Giants had always been content with taking a receiver there was NEVER a point where they wouldn’t have had their choice between Neighbors or Rome so there wasn’t any need for a “smokescreen” to get the receiver they wanted because he was going to be there no matter what.

@@kenyattaclay7666 That's plausible. I think Schoen wanted a QB and Daboll wanted a WR and if the Saints could have gotten Maye they would have done the deal and taken him. Once they realized they weren't going him, they went with Daboll's plan. I don't think they actually believe in Jones, I think they now are hoping that he can simply be a bridge to their franchise QB. Let's face it, at most maybe 20% of QBs a year are able to overcome their team's overall talent, 80% simply take the team as far as its talent will go.

Rich you should have no problem being wrong about this, you often are. No one is listening to you for insight, we are here to be entertained. I think the Giants are blowing smoke with Jones, they know they're stuck with him as a bridge QB through at least next year, while they rebuild the units that should have been rebuilt years ago. I think they would have loved to have gotten Maye but NE was too smart (or wanted way too much) for him. I think they let Barkley walk because they knew they're a hell of a lot more than a RB away from being a contender. A top salaried RB is great for a solid team like the Eagles, that's a luxury the Giants can't afford, they're not a solid team yet. Jones will likely be gone after this year when he proves he's not the man.

Shoen’s words about Barkely and how he relates to Jones is being misunderstood by every analyst I’ve heard so far. His point in saying you don’t have a guy you’re paying 40 mil hand a ball to a 27 year old back getting paid 12 mil is being misconstrued. His point is not that jones is better off without him. His point is that they still don’t know what Jones is, and in order to find out, they need to give him a better line and give him the opportunity to throw the ball more and prove himself through the passing game. They want to see if he can succeed as a pass first qb, without an elite RB. Handing the ball to saquon will not help the gm and coaches assess Jones. That’s the whole point of this year. To find out if Jones is the QB going forward or if they will Cut him after this season. They’re not going to win a superbowl this year also, so signing an expensive aging rb when you have the worst offensive line in the league is a bad plan. Saquon would greatly help Jones, but that’s not the point. He needs to succeed in the Daboll scheme passing game for them to want to knee him long term

I’m telling you right now Barkley hasnt been a pro bowl caliber runningback since his 2020 injury and his YPC and other efficiency stats back this up. Frankly it’s been hard to watch as a giants fan. But it was the right move to move on from him in my opinion. In a year or two he’ll be in ekelers position and he’s already had way too many injuries.

Call me crazy, but I think it was silly to let two team elected captains leave in free agency without an attempt to get something in return. Regardless of how you feel about those players, they’re still talented enough to get some kind of compensation.

My money is on Barkley torching the Giants for 100+ on the ground, and multiple TD's both times the Iggles play the lil Giants this season after the GM's verbal vomit on screen.

I'm a Giants fan and a big Barkley fan. The Giants need far more than a RB, I'm glad they cut him loose without strings and let him go get his final bag. The Giants could have easily screwed him over by tagging him again, they didn't. I wish Barkley all the success in the world, obviously not when he plays the Giants but anyone that thinks Barkley running for big yards against the Giants is some kind of insult to the Giants is too casual a fan to bother with.

People forget the Giants let go of their veteran center Feliciano (who the 49ers signed for only $2 million 😅) and drafted a rookie center who ranked dead last at that position last year. So Danny lost the brains of his o-line over chump change and got stuck with a dumb rook. Plus that o-line has been the worst in the league forever, and they were all injured and calling in Pugh off the street to play left guard for half the year.

Sounds to me like John Mara was saying, Mr. GM, "we lose Saquon, we better win or this is your last year." This is his last year. That's why the Giants didn't edit that out.

@@ash8004 No GM has final say over an owner. Nevermind a brand new GM who has never done a thing deserving of being a GM. He was brought in to please the coach. If they can't win, they'll both be gone.
