Restaurant dining is not a factory assembly line. It’s eating and social and should be respected as such.

I agree with him, it depends on if people are waiting for the table.

I have seen New Yorkers walk up to tables and tell people who have eaten they're waiting to be seated

@@codyschubert8165 Not in New York-normal behavior. Actually the people lingering are the rude people so I now see that your post is indeed correct!

My parents tought me "the social graces" at an early age... Too bad so many peoples parents are clueless. That makes them clueless.

This is something I try to be very conscious of when I’m dining. It really depends on the restaurant, but you really shouldn’t be more than a hour taking up a table

Totally get this... But, it's one of my least favorite American ways of doing things. When we travel to European countries(personal experience could be completely wrong) we get more of the feeling that we are breaking bread with others and enjoying their company. As opposed to trying to stuff our faces fast enough so that there's more money to be made and the next cash cattle can moooove into the feed trough.

This is true for New Orleans too. Dining is an experience. If you’re looking for something fast, go to a po-boy shop, where there is counter service. In & out, if you wanna, but no one will penalize you for taking your time & kicking back with a long neck Barq’s Root Beer & an oyster po-boy. Dining is special in New Orleans & not something to rush through.

This is the first time I've seen him really start to look old. He's always been old, but never looked it. He had a youthfulness to him. Now he's looking like a real 80 year old.

What's your point? He's aging. It's natural. And you pointing it out makes you what? Some kind of observational savant?
