I was 9 years old when the Lakers drafted Magic Johnson. I’m born and raised in LA, and I’ve been a Lakers fan since that day. This is NOT an “inspired hire”. From my point of view, it is pathetic and embarrassing. It took us seven weeks to hire Lebrun’s podcast co-host who has zero coaching experience on any level. We gave a low-ball offer to the best available coaching candidate and got rejected. It seems like we did not seriously pursue any other qualified candidates. Now we’re stuck with a highly questionable coach, an aging star, and an underachieving star with constant injury concerns. We’ll be stuck in the play-in tournament for the foreseeable future.

in fact....EVERYONE can predict what will happen for the remainder of Lebron's Laker career. Lakers will be mid all year, barely sneak into the Play-in and then get bounced in round 1. Then Lebron will retire, leaving the Lakers in ruin because they decided to get rid of every viable, talented young player for has-been, past-their-prime vets, and because they traded all their draft pick for pieces that don't fit....all in order to help Lebron achieve his INDIVIDUAL goals ahead of the franchise and team needs. This is what Lebron does. This is his legacy. He burns franchises to the ground, then leaves them in ashes. Hiring his own bootlicker, Redick, only proves this point. Re

No head coaching experience for a franchise with the level of expectation and ineptitude in their front office. Other than the bubble season, the Lakers have been a literal shell of their former selves for the last 12 years. A former agent with no previous experience as GM is their GM, and, aside from landing LeBron and AD, has not demonstrated any consistency is acquiring, cultivating, or retaining talent. How many players have we seen in the Pelinka era start their career with the Lakers only to be cast aside and experience success elsewhere? I had mad love for JJ as a player. I appreciated him as broadcaster and a podcaster. Any other team, I would be over the moon for him. This team, zero confidence his presence makes any difference to the new Laker standard in April.

I think it is a good hire to work with a player/coach player like Lebron. It could be a fantastic collaboration. It's a risk but the west is stacked and big swings need to be made. Best of luck JJ.

Is reddick gonna become the next Steve Kerr. I doubt it Rich. At least Steve played under actual greats like Phil Jackson and Greg Popovich. Reddick and Lebron deserve each other. Not only is Reddick almost as egotistical as Lebron but they share the same need to self-promote. Lebron hails himself as the GOAT and Reddick has proclaimed himself a basketball sicko or some other braindead way to avoid using the english language properly "When you're good at something you tell people. When you're great at something people tell you."

JJ is the guy as long as the Lakers give him the authority to fire the front office. The front office is the problem.

Not a bad idea. They fire Redick in 2 years, blame it on his inexperience and LeFlop retires and the Lakers start over without much effort. Better hope LeGM doesn't demand more draft picks though for aging players with bad contracts.Otherwise the glorious Lakers will be strapped for draft picks for 6 years like the Cavs were when LeGM left them.

This is dumb hire...hiring a guy with no coaching experience to coach the Lakers...really. With so many egos in the second largest market. In LA the Lakers are the #1 team in the city. This isn't going to go well.

Thanks Lakers for letting Ham go and come back to the Bucks. Reddick could be Nash on steroids or you never know. Millen on Lions was Xs and Os talked and his involvement in front office was atrocious....thinking could be similar here. However, he could be next Kerr or John Lynch. Sorry for crossing over to other sports comparisons and different positions but Millen came to mind right away.

I see the media keep labeling him as a Podcaster. He played freaking basketball in the NBA. We can get him that part. The main part. He didn’t get higher because he was a Podcaster.
@Rattlehead415
@Rattlehead415 6 күн бұрын
He got there because he's a podcaster with LeBron. No other person would EVER get this shot without someone backing them. He's done absolutely nothing like Steve Nash. Nash got the Job and he ONLY played basketball. Redick is a Podcaster with LeBron.

He wasn’t a coaching candidate *in the abstract* because of a podcast with LeBron. He was a candidate for the Lakers job in particular exclusively because of his podcast with LeBron.

That is correct. To be clear, I loved Redick as a player, but he was a role player. If he won a championship, the media would be leading with that. If he had an MVP season or held any kind of award of excellence in the NBA, they may have lead with that. I have less of a problem with how the media is describing him than I do with the fact no one is speaking about the problems with this hire given the success Vogel had before, during, and after his time with the Lakers. Vogel wasn't the problem. Westbrook wasn't the problem. Ham wasn't the problem. The Lakers front office is a sh!tshow on ice, and as long as Pelinka is GM, nothing will change.

Comparing Kerr's hire to Reddick's is not accurate. Kerr played a long NBA Career and played for 2 of the Greatest NBA Coaches ever in Phil Jackson and Greg Poppovich. Kerr made it known near the end of his career he wanted to coach in the NBA and Popovich vouched for him. I enjoy Rich Eisen's show but sometimes the format annoys me with Rich playing Mister Positive and Chris playing the skeptic. The difference is this is Lebron's Hire and Lebron is far from his prime. Lebron's son announced going Pro knowing with his numbers no one will draft him and the Laker's will draft Lebron's son in the 2nd Rd of the NBA draft. The Laker's won't do anything until Lebron retires and the Team can move forward.

When ES down in Miami was the video guy did you think he was gonna be a head coach. Cause I never saw him take one shot in NBA. Yet there he was/is. And two rings. If JJ gets fired after two years that’s LA’s MO.
