Dude won me over that Thursday night game he debuted in, when he came in, the whole energy changed and the Browns finally won a game, the Bud Light knight opened the free beer fridges in Cleveland. That was a great football moment. Then watching him come in and win for the Rams after only being on the team for 2 days. Ya, all the best to him. It's too bad the Bucs didn't get a lot of prime time attention this year.

As a lifelong Bucs and Nittany Lions fan I was so excited to get the guy who dropped the flag on the "BIG O". This team gives me the same underdog warrior energy the Bucs had in Brady's first year as well. This team thrives as being the underdog, and I genuinely think that Baker is the best fit for this teams identity. I hope Tampa can become his home long-term.

Even though I’m a diehard longhorns fan. I’ve always loved Baker and have never understood the hate this kid gets. As a life long Patriots fan, clear Brady fan and watching so much of Tampa over the last few years. I was thrilled to see him get a chance to be the full time starter, with a solid offseason to learn and practice with the team. This Tampa team is so a much better and far more healthy than they were with Brady last season. Baker is just one of those guys that takes center stage without even trying. His current success and hopefully future success will show just how awful the Browns organization is. This dude went out and played in a prove it year, with a few injuries and never complained once. He’s got that old school back yard baller inside of him. That makes him not give a s___ about what others think and will out his body on the line to make a play every single drive. Doesn’t quite have the arm as Favre, not many do. But that’s who he Reminds me of. One of the rare few players would play the way he does, even if he wasn’t getting paid. Would love to see a patriots vs bucs SB in the next couple of seasons. It’s 8:16 AM and the Sooners still suck but best of luck Baker. Get out there and keep proving the haters and doubters wrong! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Baker actually has the second fastest pass ever clocked at the combine. Josh Allen was clocked at 62 mph. Baker was clocked at 60 mph (tied with two other no name QB's who didn't make it in the NFL). Everyone else has been below 60. mph. Baker also has the longest pass thrown in the air, during a game, in NFL history. So, he might have the arm of Favre. They didn't start clocking passes at the combine until the mid 2000's so we'll never know for sure.

I am really starting to come around on Baker. I've been a Bucs fan forever, and some may not remember, but the last time we went to the playoffs pre-Brady was '07. QB for that team was Jeff Garcia. Jeff was undersized, bit of a journeyman by then, but as tough and gritty as they come. A guy who could make winning plays on big downs when we needed to win a game. He fell out with Gruden and didn't get to stay longer term, but I loved his playing mindset. Baker reminds me a lot of Jeff Garcia, and we can win football games with him, the line, WR's, and that defense. I'm here for it. It's still early yet, but I'm hopeful we can see this through to the playoffs again this year.

Think about this: The Bucs have had a number of QB failures with the first pick mixed in with one success before Baker Mayfield. The first, Doug Williams (1978), had a long and successful career in the NFL winning a Super Bowl with Joe Gibbs and the Washington Redskins. Vinny Testaverde (1987) never did anything in Tampa, did eventually play better and lead a few other teams to the playoffs. Jameis Winston (2015) never could get over his interception tendency and now is a backup on the Saints. And now Baker Mayfield (2018, Cleveland) whose future is undetermined, but he is looking pretty good this year and if he stays humble enough and not caught up in the media opportunities that are coming, he could be a success as well.
