That's cause American companies are overvalued pump and dump bubbles. They are the most liquid and moved via options easiest with a larger base of available shares to be traded. With trash like apple, tesla, nvidia being top market caps you can't take values serious.

Also the USA is not the country with the most debt numerically .That would be China. 40 trillion dollars for a GDP of 17 trillion dollars. The USA is 34 trillion for a GDP of 26 trillion dollars.

Of course Blackrock isnt there. This list shows the market capitalisation : number of shares time their unit price. Blackrock is currently arround 119 billions regarding market cap. You might confuse the market cap and the sum of assets managed by a compagny (arround 10 trillions for Blackrock). Which is very different, and isnt a good measure to compare compagnies, because it does not represent their wealth or economic power. However, its useful to compare banks or hedge funds. To be fair, market cap isnt a good measure as well. As it does not represent the effective place in real world economy, rather a general feeling of hope or despair about the future of the compagny. Best exemple is Tesla. Compare it to giant car producers : market cap vs car sold.

To rush to the conclusion without any explanation : basicaly the state can buy all private debts and make them disappear without any long term effect on the economy. Worst that could happen is a lack of confidence from the markets. But it wouldnt last. America is likely to thrive, at least economically, for the next decades at minimum.

Just to point out a couple of glaring errors, Linde isn't British, it's German, and Shell is Royal Dutch Shell making it an Anglo-Dutch company.

I seem to remember Unilever trying to move their Netherlands office to London to become a wholly UK company instead of an Anglo-Dutch company? I wasn't too sure though!
