I was lucky enough to be standing next to Richie's father a few years back at the Bloodstock Festival in the UK. I had no idea who he was at first, but while I was discussing with my friend how brilliant Richie sounded and what a great fit he was for the band, he leaned over and said "that's my boy". Ended up having a great conversation with him. Really nice man and such a proud proud dad. Rightly so.

Saw them in copenhagen two days a go, this was the best gig I have been to in my life, I have seen Priest life since 1998 and almost every tour since, and this was the best ever. And the best over all only Behemoth and Gojira comes close to what i saw two days ago.

Saw Priest yesterday in Copenhagen, best concert I've ever been at in my life, and I've been to a fair share of concerts in my life, also wanna mention I saw Metallica 2 weeks ago, my 3rd chance to see them and I those two shows then felt like the best concerts I've ever been to, for Priest to shortly after put up an even better concert feels fantastic. People around me were of all ages, and they all loved Priest's new material as much as the old.

You can argue about the best all day. I won’t go there. I will say this is my FAVORITE JP album! It’s a perfect album. PERFECT! Richie has quickly become one of my favorite guitar players. 🤭I still remember people asking me back in the 80’s about what I think these guys would sound like when they got old. “They won’t be able to play anymore!” Nobody ever thought bands like this would never be able to play anymore when they hit their 50’s. If only I knew then what I do now! 🤣

@@rabarebra they played five songs of Invincible Shield on this Tour but I would love to see songs like Devil in Disguise too. They should rotate the setlist so we get more new Songs live because Trial By Fire was only played two times.

@@MusicMaster666 Which songs? I've only seen Panic Attack and Invincible Shield so far. I'd love to see Devil in Disguise (my favourite too). I think playing new stuff takes some effort and practise. all bands rehearse, some do it less, and it shows, because of this.

@@rabarebra Besides Panick Attack and Invincible Shield they played Trial By Fire two times, Gates of Hell four times and Crown of Horns 39 times (last played July 8th in Mannheim). I love all those five songs and songs like Devil in Disguise so I hope they play more new stuff.

@@MusicMaster666 Out of 15 songs in total, at Tons of Rock, they played only two new songs, Panic and Invincible. It boggles me why they cut out new songs under the way as the tour goes. Utterly stupid.

Very good interview. Thank you. I like that you are also the fan and sometimes you have a same question which I would ask as well..Like that DVD record. Honestly, I do not share Rob's opinion that it makes no sense to record concerts nowadays because everything is on youtube. Amateur record from the mobile phone simply can not be compared to official record. And all big Priest fans know that the guys are basically better every tour currently. Even though it seems impossible but it is. Rob is singing way better than he sang on Angel of Retribution tour. Rising in the east was honestly horrible live record and in my opinion it damaged Priest for many years. Even though Rob was not in the greates shape that time, he was really bad at this specific Budokan shows. I had bootlegs from the tour and he was able to sing much better than he did in Japan. Many people after this dvd just said that Rob cant sing anymore and that he is old and slow and has to have a stick etc. In my opinon he was just suffering with his back issues and thats why he sang worse and was slower etc. After his operation he was basically getting better until now. Since I would say Epitaph tour, he sings incredibly well. There was 2 more dvd's much better than Rising in the east. But still, I think there should be record from Firepower tour and definitelly 50 heavy metal years tour but was no..So now its a time in my opinion. They should record some big show like Maiden did with Rock in Rio. They should record show in Chile or country like that where people are wildest and put out incredible energetic dvd to save for generation how mighty metal gods were incredibly in 55 years of their career.

💯 I absolutely agree, I really hope they do a Live DVD soon because those shows are worth it to be professionally recorded. I hope they have recorded their Wacken 2018 and 2022 performances and they are just unreleased and might be released in the future.

It's really unfair to see how Richie was treated by the Priest fandom versus how Ripper was. Richie was welcomed into the fold with enthusiasm, even with a total letdown of a record that was Redeemer of Souls (do you even remember a song from that album?) Whereas Priest put out Jugulator with Ripper, an absolute MASTERPIECE of a record that if it was released by any other band, it would be an instant metal classic. It goes to show that metal fans, while hardcore and true to their love for their favorite bands, are really narrow-minded. A breath of hope is the remix and re-release of the Martin-era catalogue of Black Sabbath. I wish Priest do the same with Jugulator and Demolition.
