I didn't originally intend to watch this whole thing, but I just couldn't tear myself away. Other people and responsibilities did tear me away from it, but I left the tab open and managed to get through the whole thing split over two days. I really enjoyed watching this!

Great job Richie, you captured the feel and harmonies well. Perfect timing...a summer song for sure. After taking drum lessons in the winter of '64, I would play along with this when school got out in June. I used a chair in the living room as my drum set. My practice pad was the snare, the right arm of the chair my ride, the left arm the hi-hat. I even had a souvenir Indian tom-tom wedged into the cushion as my floor tom and a metal coffee can cover on a stick as my crash. I didn't learn much about drumming, but I learned about arrangements, counting 4 measures, where to put the drum fills etc. and of course the magic of being part of the music.

Killer job, dude! My favorite part was listening to you layering all the backing vocals and hearing each part on its own. This band really did have some really great harmonies.

1:41:30 I was thinking "this is too muddy for Richie!". Love these re-construction videos where you show everything part by part. There's so much involved I'm awed at how you do it. I get tired just thinking about setting up a fraction of your studio!

Their was some research done: Dennis Wilson plays drums, with Hal Blaine playing Timbales. Brian is on piano for the basic track and harpsichord for overdub. Al Jardine is on Fender Bass as well as Someone else doubling the bass. Carl Wilson is on rhythm guitar Fender. He added the solo as it was being mixed to Mono and Brian added some Hammond Organ.

I have a wierd type of ADHD. I get totally caught up in something for days weeks or months (sometimes years with music or martial arts). Then I don't look at it again for however long while I'm off studying something else. Thats how it is with me getting caught up in RC videos. Haven't watched anything in over a year. Then last Friday Band Geek was doing Siberian Khaatru in my youtube feed. "Lets check this out," I thought. Now its Monday morning and I'm still watching Band Geek. To make it short, way to hog all the talent Dude. On the good side of that you seem so humble and cool for a musical genius that Apollo himself would envy. In fact I bet even Buck Dharma admires the hell out of you. Your producer skills blow me away as much as your musical talent.

I've been going back and catching up on some of your older videos since I've really digging them lately. This is such a great recording session, Ritchie! I do very similar things when I record songs myself where I'll set up a click track along with synth patch outlining the chords so there's a reference to follow along to.

This is me, building a track. But I just listen through the original track as a guide for the harmonies. I can't use note cheat sheets - but that's just me - I just hear the separate harmony parts.

Richie, Most people that haven't been in a studio, have no idea of what it takes to record a song, especially one with so many layers of harmonies. Your final result is really good! Kudos bro! On another note, does your band play out still (2019) and where? I'd love to come see you guys. I'm from central Mass. Rick

A little late on commenting on this vid, but I just found it. Very cool to see you have the same workflow as I do. Kinda validates that I'm not totally crazy. LOL The only thing I hear that could've been done differently was the 6 string bass part had some tremolo and surf reverb on it. Sort of a Dick Dale vibe but more muddy on the original. Great vid man. Before joiming up with the mighty BOC, did you ever slog it out on the club circuit?
