Thanks so much for post this! My key has been stuck for almost 2 yrs and taken to multiple mechanic and spent almost $2000 in estimates alone. I spent $83 including tax and shipping at Rockauto, had the old one out and new one in less than 20 min! I can't thank you enough for this video and being able to do the repairs myself when no one else could

Thanks for your help! I know NOTHING about cars and I was able to get my key to turn. It had been locked in the ACC. position and wouldn't lock so I could get my key out.

Can I switch the ignition lock if it's stuck in lock position? I can't get it to turn to accessory

Can I take it out without putting the key in the acc position because my key literally won’t turn from the lock position

I just bought an '09 Aveo and the key is quite hot to the touch when I remove it from the ignition. Will this help fix that issue or am I just doomed to always have a hot key? I'd hate to shell out the cash and the time to replace it if it's just gonna keep happening, and so far I can't find much info online about other people dealing with the same issue in the same year model.

I'm North America only Canadian models have programmed keys. US models do not have the immobilizer equipment in them. If you are in the US have Wal-Mart cut you a key using the key blank 31R. It is not a chip key and only costs like 2$. That's what I've been using on mine with no problems.

Most common reason why people have to replace the key ignition is having a lot of keys on a key ring.

So the key needs to turn to get the Lock Cylinder out, what a Joke :) :) :) We want to replace the Lock Cylinder do to the fact the key will not turn. People at chevy, not the smarts people on the block.

Now run away quickly before the owner comes back :-D. It becomes a real pain when the lock is damaged, no easy button to press :-( Ive had to struggle with the shear bolts on some cars that hold the whole thing on, older bmw's hide them tight against the dashboard, not much space for a punch :-( A punch might wake me up though lol.
