I remember when this song got released. It was huge in Britain and went number 1 for a long time. Everyone mocked Rick's dancing in the video so his managers got Paula Abdul to give him dance lessons. She had released her first single around the same time. What is often overlooked is just how crazily good his voice is. Not to mention how good the song is. They don't make them like this any more. Unfortunately.

First heard this song in 1987...I pictured the singer as a middle-aged, blue-eyed soul singer...I was shocked when I saw the video for the first time...Rick looked like he was still in middle school...Sometimes the voice doesn't match the face...Either way, it's an awesome song!

@@quayreacts Oh yes, Rick Roll refers to when someone gets pranked into thinking they're gonna watch a certain video but then they click the link and it's just this song. But I was saying we can't say this video is a Rick Roll because we weren't pranked thinking we were gonna see something else.

After some shaky moves at the start Rick Astley quickly finds his pace. This is really good dance-pop that has to be from the 80s. Like you say, he has a more mature voice than his looks suggest. For a debut single, it's very creative and confident, with his vocals right at the.front of the mix and the backing singers staying out of the lead singing even in the chorus.

This voice does not match the person.. This is one of my favorite songs (of which I have many).. Rick had one or two more hits, then just dropped off the scene, after about 10 years he came back.. Oh by the way, Mr. Rick took dance lessons just for this video.. ♠W.G.

Rick was the shy, reserved, awkward teaboy at Stock, Aitken and Waterman record producers. One day somebody heard him singing in the kitchen area. He was immediately signed up! What a voice! He couldn't dance so they developed his own style called Rickrolling!
