Rick Carlisle Says He's To Be Blamed For The Loss Against The Pelicans

Is Rick Carlisle taking the blame off of his players shoulders in order to relieve them of the pressure and public scrutiny, or did he actually intend for Dennis Smith Junior to take the last shot, despite Luka Dončić being 7/10 from the 3PT up until that point? No good coach would openly and publicly criticize his player for a mistake that might've cost them a game, so his statement is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Stop playing the bench so damn much! says "we played well enough to win" but without Luka's 34 you are no where close yet you can't trust him to pull out the win and save your butts again?? Luka has not let you down once in the clutch and you don't give him the ball to win the game? This idea of having two point guards is retarded. A body only has one head. If you persist on this, then make one the senior point guard, the one that runs the plays. The Offense looks so much better with Luka running the PG.

I can see his mindset for the last play, but he overcoached this posession. To take Luka off the ball completely its insane. Its ok to have a secondary option, but the guy has to be in the picture somewhere.

The idea of not giving the ball to luka is a bit comprehensive (creating more space for others) , but if it's not luka it should be barnes not dsj .

Lol there were so many possibilities there. Luka is just too slow. One possbility of that play is that DSJ will hand it off to him set a screen and Luka will shoot it but he's just too slow and fat and still can't blow by anyone. He got lucky with them stepbacks but Jrue was locking his ass up and got a couple of steal and turnovers off him

Last game with Portland they asked him, is it easy for you to have Luka on the end, you just give the ball to him and he scores, he said no it’s not luka I make the plays, well now he wanted to show that luka can be out of the picture and see what happened.. INVOLVE LUKA more man, get this in your head before you get fired !!!

Mike A probably I have been watching NBA before you were born, with the team that he has and if he keeps loosing 6 games in a row, mark is going to fire his ass with no doubt..

I actually liked the idea of the play. Get holiday, the best defener away from the action and get a clear lane. DSJ just messed up

It's actually his fault. He read the defense wrong and anticipated a double team on Doncic. That didn't happen. He should've came up with a back up plan and gave the ball back to Luka if the defense was man-to-man. It was good that DSJ got open and drove into the lane, but the play wasn't made for such little time. It's these simple basic mindset that a coach has to have to be successful. You always have to be one step ahead of your opponent and Carlisle has been consistently covered by Doncic, who at this point, is the only person saving his career on the Mavericks

@@shanebattier31 Carlisle is a master of getting Ls. The damn coach has done nothing for Mavs since 2011. Get rid of this overrated coach and lets move in a winning direction.

I'm fine with DSJ taking the last shot. I'd be good with either DSJ, Luka, Barnes, Matthews, or Dirk taking the last shot. A lot of talent on this team.

I think it was the right choice. The expectation was to give it to Luka. Then, why not, not do the obvious and confuse the other team? The fact that Smith couldn't deliver was the problem.

Well.. Rick you fucked up this one a big time. Every ordinary fan with half a brain watching Mavs ..know Luka is pg and clutch player. I really don't like DSJ, never did never will. I'd trade DSJ and Barnes for AD. I think Jalen will be good for playing with Luka..no ego problems and calm character, same as AD. And you're automatic in finals. 1 Luka 1 pg 1 sg 2 Jalen 2 pg 3 Cleber sf 4 AD pf 5 DJ c
