this is an old Italian clay that was given to me by a friend, it is about 100 years old and still very good to work with. Slightly hard and waxy.

This is the best 'How to clay sculpture a face' in my opinion. I would love to have seen how the rest of the face was done. I have been watching this non-stop. I love how the mouth was done, I couldn't wait to get some more clay and try it out. The coughing scares me a little every time. Haha.

Hi Annette, we start with the large planes much like Bridgman and Vanderpoel, and then gradually work towards the anatomy of the features. I will be teaching this very class again Dec 7-9, 2012 here in Annapolis, MD. It'll be Fri-Sun 9-4 each day. Where do you teach? Thanks for watching :)

Really good stuff. I've been a potter for almost 30 years and have had an itch to sculpt lately. When is the video coming out? :)

How can I see the process that precedes this video? Shape of the skull, proportions of the face, planes, nose, etc. As much as I love this video, and I do - I use it with my students - I want to see how you get here, what comes before this finished mouth is demonstrated on this lovely skull.

Hey the clay I have never hardens, I like that so I can always reuse it but what clay do you use. Where can I get it? What's the story on the armeture do you always use, is it mandatory.i have a problem with my clay moving to much where I don't want it to my forehead always seems to disappear and I noticed it's probably cause I don't use a armeture?? I got alot to learn but I'm telling you I'm good. I got the eye for it. And I can sit or stand all day and sculpt. I love it. Just non stop, constantly making All these different faces. But I wish I had your skills you are better than I will ever be but you have knowledge I'm and have studied and I have just self taught and what I see in my mind. I feel like I can sculpt anything I can think of. I did this hammerhead shark once and it was bar ass. Came out of no where and when I was done it was perfect. And I had no reference at all. Only what I can see in my mind.but I know I need a teacher to ever become as good as you. You are the shit.thanks.

WHAT TYPE AND BRAND OF CLAY DO YOU USE?
@annetteeverett807611 жыл бұрын
I'm in southern Utah in a little town, St. George. We are close to Zion National Park. How would you like to come out on a little family vacation, and give a 3-day workshop while you are here? How many people would you need to teach? I have a good sized studio, but I can also make arrangements through Dixie State College if we need more room. It's worth asking, right? You know you have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon!

Which Type of cley ???
@christyinthecarolinas7 жыл бұрын
what is the best type of clay for this?
@CasaliArts7 жыл бұрын
Hi Christy, this is an antique oil based clay that is no longer available. But Roma #1 brand is good - this type of clay never dries and must be molded to reproduce your form into plaster or bronze. But since it does not dry it can also be displayed on your shelf for a long time. If you want to fire a piece in the kiln, use terracotta (water-based clay) instead of oil based. Thanks for watching!
@christyinthecarolinas7 жыл бұрын
Rick Casali ah OK. I don't have access to a kiln, unfortunately. I'm still learning what clays to use and what not to use, so I can keep my pieces for as long as possible...The pieces worth keeping anyways lol. Thanks for replying. Xoxo

Very very dated and bad audio. There’s so many free ways to fix the echoes, coughing, banging, volume problems, etc. it’s discouraging. The lesson is good. Thanks
