Rick is badass, no doubt, but I think his partner was selling it a bit

Technique and timing are without flaw. The problem (in my opinion) is that Sensei Hotton KNOWS what attack is coming, and has a rehearsed response. Looks super impressive. But in real self defense, unless you're VERY confident that you can read your adversarie's attack, these kinds of demonstrations don't have much value. Please don't misunderstand - Sensei Hotton is highly skilled! But when you know what your opponent is going to do, it's easier to plan and execute a defense and counter.

THIS is karate, not that degenerated WKF dancing.
