God, so many memories and visions swimming around as the notes keep unfolding and swirling. Just beautiful and amazing. Then Roundabout starts to come up in the middle of Life on Mars where it gets ready to explode into his solo and Chris Squire thumping that incredible Bass line. Jesus! Great way to wake up I gotta say.

One would imagine with those what look like Rhodes microphones thrust into the piano that the sound quality might be a bit better, then again this is likely to be a bootleg recording on someones monile isn't it ?

@arnastubuttwehak9946 жыл бұрын
Well, this will excite people I suppose, since we're 687 - 5 on like/dislike. People enjoy this kind of thing. But Rick Wakeman, for all his technical dexterity is musically banal. This is accomplished piano bar tinkling. Tinkle tinkle arpeggio ornament bing bing whoosh-BANG tinkle tinkle. He ornaments the shit out of every line he plays, but never makes it harmonically interesting.
@stevestephens89695 жыл бұрын
amass buttwehak@ Free World, just, and your entitled to your opinion still, well just about, but Bowie asked Rick to play with him and not you, so I think we'll leave it at that.
@mattwells12095 жыл бұрын
BANG tinkle tinkle, hardly a description of rick, one of the best ever!
@PhantomOfTheMall4 жыл бұрын
Considering this song typically has a vocal melody to accompany it...and that vocal is missing here. He’s simply doing what most EVERY MUSICIAN DOES WHEN SOLOING....they incorporate the vocal lines into the arrangement!! All that flourishing...that ornamental...that “tinkle tinkle bang bang” would normally be done by the Vocalist. Granted, in some performances, a vocalist and a musician might exchange a few flourishes throughout the piece, but like I said, considering this is a solo performance....it’s an given that it’s up to the musician to do those fill-ins.
