No bout a doubt it my friend. Having those qualities is one of the main reasons that seperates the most successful session players from the rest. There's certainly other things that go into being a sought after session musicians in the studio for sure. However a musicians persona in the way they present themselves to other artists makes all the difference for the most part. To put it plain & simple take the wise words my pop's told me as a kid growing up in life. 🤔 "If You're Cool, You're Cool. But If You're An Azzhole, Well Then You're An Azzhole, Beat It & Go Kick Rocks!" It's not very hard to understand really, right? 🙄 +++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+++ 🤘😜🤘

Jimmy picks like Tom. Watch his right hand when he burns around. Wobble wobble. I believe it's called sarod picking, or scalpel picking. Also, John Mc Laughlin was one of the first to influence players in this technique. The sarod has a very deep body and players have to crank their arm over and down. Wrist twisting is natural in that position.

What a great episode you and your two guests are presenting us - and for free! (Man, my music theory skills have been neglected too long - I'm motivated now to review!) Rick, I'm also so thankful you brought up Sergio Mendes & that beautiful ballad masterpiece/cover with 22 modulations because it reminded me that I can't find my favorite CD of his in my scattered collection: 1992 Brasileiro.

Even after all these years and accomplishments, Tom and Guthrie take so much joy out of playing the guitar. It's an excellent lesson for all of us.

These guys are my favorite here in Nashville! They’re as authentic and humble as they come and their playing and recordings speak for themselves. The new album is off the chain! 💪🎸

Guthrie is truly inspirational as a human and a guitar player. His humility, honesty, and deep connection with his instrument are qualities that many of us aspire to embody. I also hope that his journey back to Nashville allowed him to experience some awesome rock and roll! Thank you, Rick, for conducting such an amazing interview. It's one of the best and most enjoyable videos I've watched in a while.

Wow. I am continually amazed at the content quality of Ricks videos. This session with Tom and Guthrie was beyond outstanding. I felt as if we, as listeners, were being permitted to visit Holy ground. Ricks inspiration to create his channel for Dylan, his son, has evolved to precipitate the inspiration of his listeners. I am so grateful. Thank you Rick.

Guthrie did a version of Little Wing at NAMM in front of like 30 people that’s gotta be the absolute best playing I’ve ever seen. Pure technique AND emotion. The only problem was that I felt bad for the other guitarists on stage. It was transcendental.
