@@DogwoodDags I remember an article from Sound on Sound ages ago, maybe 15 years or so, about Midas Heritage being just about the best bang for buck recording front end if you're looking for many inputs at recording and mixdown. Even back then, their Mic Pres were well spoken of.

@@jas_bataille it's a long, boring story. In the early 2000s I was looking for a wurlitzer piano for my studio. There was an add on Craigslist with two for sale. I reached out, got an address and used mapquest to find it. The seller described the gate I should look for and it was easy to find. I arrived in the early twilight but the large home was surrounded my trees so it was pretty dark when I parked near the walkway to the front stairs. I was met at the front door by someone named Dylan (I think) with a flashlight in his hand. When he invited me in it was dark in the entry even with the lights on. We turned left into the living room, also dark, where there was a pretty large collection of equipment that was apparently also for sale. By this time I was suspecting that I was in some famous musician's house but nothing was a giveaway as to who. I was checking out this tube wurlitzer and in the darkness noticed on the wall behind it wss a painting. It was "the knife" from the cover of For the Beauty of Winona. I asked if this was Daniel Lanois' house. He confirmed. At that point it was easier to understand the equipment. I was up at that house a few times while eventually buying two wurlitzers and an AC30. The AC30 was blown up and they were considering a repair before selling it if the estimate was reasonable. For whatever reason it didn't sell and supposedly Dan approved selling it to me very cheaply. I repaired it myself for about $10 in parts and some wire. Ironically, the mvp was the last thing I bought because no one else did, a musitronic wurlitzer student model. It has superb action and sound. Ironically, I've seen those musitronic wurlitzers in a bunch of big rooms in Nashville. Across those visits I did get to see a bit of the ground floor and usually parked by what I believe is the entrance to the studio in the basement. I had clients that dined and smoked with Dan at his house. I have never met him.
