Always be mindful of the judgement you pass it could one day be you . I used to be the one that would judge those who used welfare . I was able to maintain a certain lifestyle until I had babies . I knew financially I would be okay and I was for a few months but my twins need milk they would run through can after can and it felt like I couldn’t make it so after awhile I got Wic assistance. I was thankful and appreciative. Mind you I’m a nurse and things started to change for all of us during the pandemic.

There are 3 choices: Pay everyone a living minimum wage; supplement wages with welfare or expect mass chaos & looting in the streets. People have to eat, have shelter & clothing. Social welfare programs aren't about empathy or feelings--it's a safety net that prevents society from burning. Where's the outrage for corporate welfare & bailouts, which dwarf social welfare in annual spending?

Yup! Watched a guy from Canada not to long ago say that he's never ever had to worry about insurance. He never had to keep a job he hated, not switch a career he wasn't happy in because of health insurance. That's why we have old miserable men and women completely stuck at a job because if they leave they won't have health insurance. It's not right, imagine if Americans had the option to go after their goals and dreams no matter what? People probably wouldn't need welfare for multiple years. I wish people would use their heads.

Things were very different when my husband and I were starting out with out young child, we both worked low wage jobs and the only thing we got was free lunch for our child, thank God. Life was HARD. I had to pawn all the jewelry that I had inherited from a family member and we always had our phones cut off, and sometimes our power too. I was so lucky to have parents that sometimes helped with food and rent. Eventually our hard work paid off and we both get paid decently enough that we can cover all our bills, and have money for extras too. We struggled HARD for at least 6 years and received virtually nothing to help us out.

I just have to say that inflation is real! The cost of living is real! It keeps going up. Chicago's minimum wage is àlmost 17$ an hour. If all states put a bill into place to raise minimum wage and çontinue to do it than these companies have no choice but to raise their wages!!! These corporations and companies need to start paying people accordingly as they make millions of dollars!

All this bickering and it never happened. Even more folks on welfare today. More food stamps, more financial benefits and a whole lot less fathers in the picture, unless they are living off the mother, but then it's usually the boyfriend, not the father. A lady I know has been on welfare for 22 years. Every time a child turns16, she has another baby. She dresses nice every day, sells her food stamps and depends on the older children to take care of the younger ones while she goes out almost every night to party. Different men running in and out of the house constantly. She's by far not the only one. Shameful. Oh, and now the oldest 3 girls are on welfare. She had 7 children.

That's crazy! People like that ruin it for the ones who really need it. And I know a couple of people that do that same thing u were talking about. I've been married for 22 years. We have 4 kids, daughter is 20 and 3 boys 16, 8, 1. We don't get welfare and sometimes, especially now that groceries and everything has gone up, we struggle but we make it work.

I know a woman who has 7 kids by 6 different fathers. She has a child every time the oldest one ages out. She lives off of child support, public assistance, and using the men she dates. She has been married at least four times. Every year she has a new man it seems like. Her daughter turned 16 and got emancipated. She doesn’t talk to that daughter anymore. She refuses to take birth control.

Aint no one talking about corporate welfare. I have known many people that got benefits for one reason or another and it is no kind of life to live. They are not living it up. Most are disabled and get peanuts. Around 1000 a month to pay all bills. Less than 150 in food stamps and they pay 33% of their income to rent so they are left with $670ish to pay all other bills.

Nikki has been on welfare for 10 years. Nikki is a liar (who works 6 jobs at one time, really?) Nikki committed welfare fraud (which NO ONE mentioned) by working "under the table" and still getting welfare. That means she paid no taxes on that income and definitely didn't report it to her caseworker. It ain't about race. And that's coming from another black woman. Nikki is an embarrassment.

To me this would not have happened if that young woman named Nikki didn't keep her legs closed! She got herself in this position because, she did not let her brain take charge of her common sense. Ten years on public assistance is 9 years six months too long! It seems to me that this woman is just doing nothing but making excuses! My question is where is her baby father?! Out of all of this talk about welfare I have heard nothing about marriage or financial planning! All of this could have been avoided if she took a minute to stop and think about the consequences of her actions! Lesson #1 do not have a baby before you are ready, and you have the money to support said child. If you are physically able you should be able to work for everything you have! There should be no free rides. You are taking away money from people who really need such as the disabled like myself. Lesson #2 say 10% of everything that you have for your old age, because you will not be able to work forever. You only have from 18 until 65 (67 in some states) to save up enough money for your old age! It's time you learned two very important words in the American lexicons they are budgeting, and sacrifice Lesson #3 30% of your check is to go for your living expenses and another 10% for investments search as: your IRA, 401K, stocks and bonds. You don't have the time to be spending money frivolously! If you can't afford something, then you shouldn't buy it! Life is not about trying to one up the next person! Life is what you make it. There is an old saying from World War Two and that is use it up where it out make it do or would do without! There are a lot of things you can do for instance :1. start buying generic items.2. Stop spending all of your money on entertainment! You're not in high school anymore everything costs from 18 on you need to work work work and save. 3. Start using public transportation it saves money and it's better for the environment. If you can't do that walk to work 4. Grow your own vegetables.5. Take your food to work with you instead of eating out. 6. Clip coupons at the grocery store every little bit helps. 7. Recycle your trash! You may not wanna believe it but it's a great way to earn extra money. 8. if you really need to get something, get it from the pawn shop (right now you're young the new stuff will come down the line but, right now you need to learn how to sacrifice. We all had to start out the same way but remember hard times breed more champions than privilege!
