@sineadduggan57137 жыл бұрын
why would anyone hate the edge, he is one of the most gifted and unassuming musicians ever
@KLRGT500KR7 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Unfortunately, there are LOTS of Edge haters out there who think he cannot play well and uses delays, effects because he does not have the skills. The Edge is absolutely brilliant as a guitarist who does not play a solo for the sake of playing a solo unless it is really needed in the song. Us U2 fans, know that is bullsh*t as he plays acoustic guitars without any delays extremely well. This solo proves, not only he can play extremely well (even blues influenced by Jimmi Hendrix like this one), but can come up with original elaborate solos that are mind blowing.
@sineadduggan57137 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you're talking about the testosterone fuelled morons who think guitar playing is a sport as opposed to an art. Authentic musicians know that music is felt not heard. U2 fans or any other music fans need not concern themselves with them. As someone famously said " in order to be offended by your opinion I would have to first value it."
@KLRGT500KR7 жыл бұрын
Well said. Those are the exact types I was talking about.
@Macconator20106 жыл бұрын
Ehhh, no. He's good, but he's not that good. U2 isn't really a band for amazing guitar, he does his job well though, I'll give you that. What you're doing here is doing the same thing as Edge haters, just on the opposite end of the scale, they don't give him enough credit, you give him too much. Overpraise is a thing. His job is more of a rhythm guitarist, sure he does the occasional solo, but he's a better composer of guitar music than he is a player.

Like a box of chocolates... so many different little Edge slices of perfection in this rendition (not even including the prominent beautiful solo). You can listen to it ten times and your ears are attracted to different parts each time. For me, the most deeply anticipated part is forever that glorious drone that emerges at the end (4.24) I don't know what it does to me but it's so menacing and potent. It never fails catch me with its power. The beauty though, even of that piece, is that it needs the entire song to fully appreciate it. It's just part of the animal that is this legendary rendition of Bullet the Blue Sky
