But hey, that divine tyrant gave Job a _new_ wife and _new_ children after torturing him for awhile, so... no problem, huh? It's not as though women and children are more than just a man's property, am I right? And that's just _one_ of the sick stories in the Bible. I wish more Christians would actually _read_ it.

I think he gets him completely, and vice versa. They're not really trying to convince each other of anything, that's not what's going on here. Stephen is just setting Ricky up to say outrageous things. He's not a puritan or anything, he's just playing it more straight than usual to generate comedic tension. Look at all the bits where Stephen trolls self-serious GOP officials and the comedy pops because of the contrast. He's versatile and can play the other side too. It's sad to have to explain this.

We have to take life a moment at a time and not think about what will happen tomorrow (will I be in a whellchair, will I had to live in a place with medical facilty...). Things are bad right now, with Trump, climate change, plastic in the ocean etc. Ricky's answer seems to be "Just. Don't. Care. Except about dogs" - and the other causes he supports for some reason which he didn't share tonight.
