I completely agree on weather sealing. I would happily take a small increase in size to do away with the retractable lens and allow me to shoot in more conditions. This has been the only real limitation for my usage plus some autofocus/low light annoyances. The recent interview was another reminder that this camera will always be a snap shooter as Ricoh call it. It is unlikely to veer far from this and we should manage our expectations about any possible upgrades!

That's what people say now about the size, but if they increased it by just one percent, thousands would pounce on it and declare the camera has lost its way as it won't fit into their increasingly tight pant pockets.

My whishes are: 1. Faster Autofocus and way better Face/Eye detection 2. Faster Lens like 2.0 would be nice 3. 30/36 Megapixel 4. Weather resistant 5. Same form factor

Apart from weather sealing all the others are not much an upgrade. GR is great for what it is right now

I would not compromise on size one iota, if anything, I would try and make it even thinner. The battery situation could be improved by using more energy efficient electronics, while keeping the battery the same size. With increase in resolution come higher needs for processing and potentially heat. I'd keep the resolution the same and go for increase in energy efficiency over increase in performance, although I suspect that gains in both simultaneously are possible. Regarding the weather sealing, I wonder if there is a way to allow for sensor cleaning by the user.

I think for evf, there could be an option to buy an add on evf that goes to the hot shoe. So if you want one, you can purchase yourself one. Otherwise, camera will be the same.

With Ricoh not being to produce enough GR3, a 5 year old camera, the prospect of the GR4 is unrealistic.

You could be right but they could also be scaling down production of the 3 and preparing for the 4. Just a thought

@@islandbyfilm You are right what's the point of making the GR3 if they could make the GR4.

Can someone tell me why anyone would buy this camera? And that’s a genuine question because every video I watch, they all say “this feature is okay, this feature is missing, this feature is slow BUT it has a good sensor.”

The tiniest point and shoot with an APS-C sensor. If you don't want that then don't buy it.

I recently bought it so I won’t take my big full frame camera with large lenses when traveling on vacation. This camera is the best camera you can get at this size, most if not all are only 1 inch sensors. Even MFT cameras are bigger than this APSC camera.

The size of the body and size of the sensor is 95% of the reason people buy it. Take it or leave it.

I have this camera, it's my primary everyday camera and you shouldn't buy it. It is a love or hate type thing, so if you don't get it immediately then it's not worth even trying. Honestly, even if you see any videos or articles about it, just ignore them entirely. Don't even click. My advice is to just avoid all things Ricoh GR. Save yourself the aggro. ✌️

Been using my iPhone for creative fun photography, but so disappointed with the sharpness of images. Want a light point and shoot with the best image sharpness I can get. Reading reviews of point and shoots and this one seems to be best for image quality.

Flip up (not out) selfie screen is the only thing that will make me upgrade for the GR III. I am tired of bending down and getting in the dirt, I also want to be in my travel and family photos more. 😂 ☔ | I have the lens housed in a filter system with a hood, so I'm not super worried about dust, it has never been an issue for me - weather sealing would be a nice to have though, I can see this being upgrade worthy for some. 🔎 | I don't use viewfinders at all, so I don't want it adding bulk and cost to the body for a low quality squinty popup, but a detachable one like the Canon M6II had would be a nice solution. Not upgrade worthy at all though, they could just make one for the current generation if they were going to do that. However, if no EVF is a big experience pain point, just buy a different camera. I don't use phones because I don't like the experience. Sony a6k series or a7C series aren't really that much bigger. Lumix GX9 even. 🔋 | The batteries are tiny, I have two spares in my wallet. Reloading the camera is a non-issue. Any increase to battery life would likely still be small enough that I'd end up bringing the spares anyway. That said: a nice to have, but not upgrade worthy. 🎨 | Ricoh already has more JPEG customisation options than Fujifilm. I'm not opposed to more, like Olympus, but this could be a firmware, not a $1k on a new body. 🔬 | MP for crop modes works great on wider lenses. However, the GR absolutely doesn't need more MP. Use the teleconverter, get the GR IIIX, or use the teleconverter on the GR IIIX. I saw a guy shooting like that the other day for around 70mm fov. It looked great. More MP is the only suggestion I actively don't want. I don't need way larger files on my harddrives for a negligible increase in crispiness. Besides Samuel L Streetlife already showed shots compared to the X100VI 40MP sensor and the GR resolved better because of the high quality lens. 🎯 | Last thing that would be nice to have, but not necessary: snappier, more confident modern AF. It's currently still better than my Fujifilm, but aim for at least the middle of the pack and be as good as Nikon or Panasonic PDAF. Not super important though because the intelligent focus modes are incredible. Snap Distance Priority with tap to AF is 😘👌 Just my take. Nice video. ✌️
