@@dr.clivejames4567 Nobody’s saying Holyfield lacked boxing talent, a great chin and courage, it was there for everyone to see. But remember Holyfield was never a natural heavyweight he was small. I believe he got a little help from somewhere when you look at the muscle fibre recruitment around his trapezius during his training up to a fight in the 90s that’s a dead give away amongst others. You see the same in MMA/K1 fighters like Alistair Overeem, and that big lump Bob Sapp, the difference in physique between steroid cycles is clear.

Ironically, Bowe's best chance of beating Lewis was right after he'd taken the title from Holyfield. Instead of listening to his idiot manager (Rock Newman), Bowe should've defended that WBC title against Lewis. I think he would've won because, as pros, Bowe developed quicker than Lewis did. In 1992, Lewis was just a KO puncher looking to blast away his opponents. Bowe was far more well-rounded and had a better chin. Once Lewis hooked up with Emmanuel Steward, it was game over. There's no way that Bowe could've beaten him then because Lewis became a formidable Heavyweight with brains as well as power (add to that, Bowe was in fast decline after his wars with Holyfield). In short, 1992-94 was Bowe's best chance of beating Lewis. Post-1994, Lewis wins easily... P.S. People that don't understand boxing always point to that 1988 Olympic final, but it was a premature stoppage in a fight that Bowe had been winning up to then.

I don't see the similarity between Hide and Mercer. Hide was known as the dancing destroyer, really quick on his toes with great speed. Mercer was much slower, stronger and more methodical. Both had power, Hides power was one punch KO fast shots, Mercer had strong hooks. Of course the biggest difference was their chins, Mercer one of the best, Hide one of the worst.

Holyfield hit a lot harder than everyone gave him credit for. He dropped tyson like it was nothing. Also David Haye has to be named as one of the absolute most devastating punchers out there. Dude nearly Koe’d a Neanderthal giant in Valuev. Insane !
