[Ride along] Aerial Tower 1 Chicago Fire Department

Ride along with Aerial Tower 1 of the Chicago fire department responding to a bin fire just one block away. Normally only an engine would attend that kind of call but because it was close to the fire house and the engine was already out they sent the closest available engine and also this truck. Note that AT1 does not carry any water. AT1 is housed with engine 1 and ambulance 41 in south downtown. Aerial Tower is the only unit of that kind in the city. All the other aerial units are regular trucks or platforms.
Mitfahrt auf Leiter 1 der Feuerwehr Chicago zu einem Mülleimerbrand. Normalerweise fährt zu solch einem Einsatz lediglich ein Löschfahrzeug. Da das LF der Wache aber bereits raus war und der Einsatz direkt um die Wache war wurde zusätzlich zum nächst verfügbaren LF ebenfalls die Leiter geschickt. Da die DL kein Wassertank hat nahmen die Kollegen kurzerhand eine volle Kübelspritze mit. Leiter 1 teilt sich die Wache mit Löschfahrzeug 1 und Rettungswagen 41.

Aerial Tower Co. 1 is the only pre piped truck besides the towers and squads in the city

Toby Cameron Yes Aerial Tower 1 is longer than the ladder trucks but is the same length as the tower ladders

Hi there, I live close to the Aerial Tower One station. I was wondering how you are able to receive a ride along with the CFD. I have heard it is quite difficult, but was wondering if you could share the process with me. Thank you.

Not trying to sound like an ***hole, but my guess would be that since he's done it for so long he has pretty much instant access but to be honest I have no clue that's just my guess.

Yeah you might be right. I was just always wondering because of the CFD Ride Along videos I have seen on KZfaq I feel like he is the only one that ever has. Lol.

I rode with Engine 19 Truck 11 on South Calumet back in 1982 and all I had to do was bring a letter of recommendation from my department to headquarters and they asked which station I wanted to ride with and I was riding with them that afternoon.. Those guys were AWESOME.. Experience I'll never forget..

Wirklich, das ist alles, was Sie tun müssen, entweder per E-Mail an den Chef oder gehen Sie klopfen auf einer Feuerwache Tür und drücken Sie Ihren Wunsch, zusammen zu fahren.
