Been waiting for a US ride along like this, thanks :)

@szajlok Fire departments have sometimes a big response-area (in AZ, TX, UT, ...). They got heavy equipment on it (cutter, ...) and some of those big ambulances can transport 2 people on 2 stretchers. US ambulances are very useful, our european are a little bit...

@Rummeltobi Don't forget the SEG, there are ambulances which can carry 4 people.

@Steffenk80 Yes actually very common. We usually use maps or off our memory.

@szajlok Van and pickup truck based ambulances are still dominant in the US by a far margin.

No, that ambulance is making all that noise. Chicago ambulances has E Q's and airhorns as well.

@gheddox I think it's called "Powercall".

do these guys not have a GPS? i thought only third world countries still use maps to find the call location lol
@Rummeltobi13 жыл бұрын
@gheddox @Arcadefreak500 That is the powercall, right.

@Steffenk80 you know what, to be honest i really cant tell you. I would assume that depts. dont want to take the chances of using a gps and it sending them to the wrong place at the wrong time. I think that using maps just increases the chances of arriving at the right address.

hey why do you wait so long to upload these?
@dangerjp13 жыл бұрын
@Steffenk80 No problem.

How come that they dont use gps?? Is that common in the US?

were you disreguarded?

@mlps93 Hur dur. GPS are an unnecessary expenditure and are prone to malfunction, and can break easily. Emergency vehicles get their shit kicked regularly and unless they have a mounted toughbook or something along that line, which is very expensive for small depts to buy, verbal maps in the big books work just fine.

Can somebody explain to me why in US ambulances are very often built on the base of quite havy trucks? Regular vans like in Europe are not enyough? That is completly uneconomical (in my opinion)...
@Steffenk8013 жыл бұрын
@dangerjp Hmmm okay.. why is that? Is it a money issue or somthing?
@nerdlydood13 жыл бұрын
