Wish I lived near you would love to be part of the ride on crew. I do enjoy your bike reviews and weekend rides and hope you keep doing them but totally understand if you stop doing them.

I haven’t watched all this yet, but just enjoying the view through the houses and countryside…… and I was hoping (realise it’s a bike channel 😃) you’d tell us a bit about the region and house prices etc. They look lovely. How does it compare to uk for house prices…..cost of living etc. you may cover this later as I’m just hearing you start to talk about finances.

We came to the States about 14 years ago. We trebled our living space and halved our mortgage compared with Ascot, Berkshire. We also swapped 300 overcast grey days for 300 blue skies and sunshine days, each year. We worked hard and fortunately have paid off our mortgage. Local house prices doubled in that time. Houses in our subdivision start around $1m. On average they are spread over three floors and circa 6,000 sq.ft. It sounds glamorous (to a working-class lad like me), but essentially they are just huge money pits!

@@RichDunn yeah I get the money pit thing, but it does sound like you get a lot more for it, and the area is clearly gorgeous…..and hey you got a great new adventure out of it too. We did a similar thing just before covid, leaving Warwickshire for St Tropez, and whilst the house is also a money pit, the number of sunny days, the lack of squelching mud underfoot, and the superb riding conditions in the mountains, means we’ve never looked back.

Thank you. In the main, I do enjoy making them, it's just the pressures of everything else in my life vying for my attention that is getting in the way at present!

First and foremost, you should enjoy making your videos. It sounds like you're drifting away from that, so if you force yourself to keep trying at your regular pace, I think the logical conclusion will be burnout and abruptly stopping. That you're even asking this question tells me you still value this work at some level, so trying to nurture it back to a higher level of enjoyment may be preferable at this point to giving up, which you may regret if you do that too soon. I vote for taking a break and/or reducing your production to an easily managed level and see where that takes you.

Yep, good advice. I think I'm actually feeling too much burnout from my day job, which is affecting my hobby job, rather than vice-versa. I took a sabbatical from my day job last year and created about 3 videos a week and enjoyed the process. I didn't make any money, but it was fun! 😂

Take a trip to Catalina AZ and do ride revues on my bikes. Got 5 Triumphs to ride. That'd give you content for 2 or 3 weeks... I got room!

If you're not enjoying doing videos then either do it differently or quit. If you're not enjoying making them then that'll come across to the viewers. This happens with many KZfaqrs who unfortunately have a shift in mindset from creating content due to a love of their hobby to creating content for content's sake.

Anyone who wants to make money on youtube, needs to steer away from any sort of Motorcycle content. You can make so much more with reviewing Food, Consumer Products, Games, Pranks, etc. The Missendenflyer out of UK had a recent video regarding this subject. He showed it in detail that creating Motorcycle content at best will earn you min wage. The lesson to the young ones is, stay at school, get educated, get a job, work hard, and do KZfaq as hobby. Take a sabbatical from KZfaq and see if you miss it. Personally, I don't know how folks can be ars*d with all the faffery if it's not your day job. A lot of the so called Moto KZfaq content creators are not creative but think they might be....
