This is going to sound crazy, but when this song came out in the early 1990s my youngest sister said it was her favorite song ever. I remember watching her bounce along to the song whenever it came on the radio, lost in the music. Flash forward about 15 years to the mid-2000s, when she suffered a serious medical event that put her into a coma. As her condition deteriorated the doctors told my parents to prepare for the worst. We literally began making funeral arrangements for her. My mother picked out her burial dress, and I burned a CD to play at her funeral service. This was the song I selected to be played. Not only was it her favorite song, but the lyrics will send a chill up your spine under those circumstances: First you look so strong, then you fade away The sun will blind my eyes, I'll love you anyway Thirsty for your smile, I watch you for a while You are a vapour trail in a deep blue sky The story has a happy ending: my sister eventually recovered from the coma. Although she suffered severe hearing loss and is still legally deaf from the high levels of medications that were administered to save her life, she is alive and well today and continues to love this song. Music has a truly remarkable ability to augment and ultimately transcend the human experience.

Christ, only 19 likes including mine and no replies. That is a travesty for such a wonderful comment. So glad she pulled through. Your last sentence sums up the power of music, surely the greatest of all the arts and the pinnacle of human expression. What a song. How did they conceive it and record it so perfectly? Wow.

It was an experience when we first played this back in 90. The years have been filled and fuelled by music and concerts going along with life. The gang is older - 49,50 - and this album has more attached to it then we could have expected. Makes us feel young. Love it. RIDE.

Mate, I literally feel shivers instantly when this tune comes on. I still remember vividly the time when I was stuck with my mate's (at that time we were still best mates that is) gorgeous Mexican girlfriend in a bathroom just me and her, while people were waiting for the locksmith of the apartment complex to come undo the lock. She had long thick shiny black hair to her bum, an amazing round, big butt, beautiful dark brown eyes... The music was playing in the living room, and we started slowly tongue kissing while holding each other alone, just me and her in the bathroom. This song was playing in the living room. And nobody knew what was happening... I later texted her that week and she snuck into my place to have the most amazing sex I've ever had with any woman. The point is, this song brings me back to that moment. And it feels so f*cking good, I can't... Damn. I get emotional everytime😁

Maybe it's just me, but I love the guitars in this song. They're so pretty and gorgeous, and they sound a lot like The Byrds at times. I honestly believe that The Byrds would be so proud of Ride, for what they did on Nowhere.

Laurence Colbert is great. He has kind of a jazz feel but harder. Brendan Canty is awesome as well but he's kind of locked into the same time signature. You guys should check out Rat Scabies from The Damned, especially with Paul Grey on bass, ie The Black Album. Simone Pace with Blonde Redhead was a real treat on Misery is a Butterfly, when he was messing around with circular sounds and clockwork. Guy Picciotto produced that album, speaking of Fugazi.
