For about 750 USD, I added a 350W barfang rear hub motor and a 48V/6A batter on my 10 year old road bike for commuting to work. My bike weights about 35 lbs. And on the weekends, pop the back wheel off and put the old wheel on for analog bike adventures. Ride1up is legit and like that they are always designing bikes for the rest of us. I test rode the Skitch, phenomenal bike, but the price was our of my budget range. I would consider this bike. Great video! Hopefully there will be more hands-on reviews soon.

A one-piece stem and bar only make sense if a variety of stem lengths are available. It would have made more sense to equip the bike with a separate bar and stem so the user could change the stem. The price and weight are terrific. Maybe I should buy one and replace the bars and stem.

Wnat's wrong with a rear hub motor? I haven't ridden many mid-motors but unless the motor's on (and honestly, even when it is) it's hard to get over the feeling of cranking around a bunch of internal gears that eventually turn a sprocket and chain vs hub motors which pedal just like a non-assisted bike when the motor's not assisting - because that's what they are. Granted, you're stuck with the rear wheel that came with the bike and it's not light, but for my $$ a bike that feels and rides like a bike is the way to go. Note Ride1UP's 30-day return policy is void if you put more than 20 miles on it...not much of a chance to try it out IMHO, assuming you can fit on a bike likely to be too big or too small with only 2 sizes available.
