When you start sliding & feel it’s getting out of control, you must do the counterintuitive thing & *NOT* suddenly reduce the throttle. It’s simple laws of motion in physics - the sudden reduction of power to the rear wheel puts sudden traction to the rear tire & the lean angle, combined with the front wheel turning angle will absolutely cause high siding - observe the right wrist action of the riders who responded with the instantaneous panic, the cause & effect is perfectly demonstrated. If you ever rode in the dirt or motocross, you’d totally get it.
@johncorbin5332
@johncorbin5332 4 жыл бұрын
It puts more traction on the front wheel, the weight shifts forward and overloads the front tire, throttle keeps the weight over the rear. You can see the guy let go of the throttle because he probably got too scared of the speed

A dead give-away of an amateur rider who's bound to fuck up at some point is that they're not wearing riding gear. This is for two reasons: - Since they're not wearing riding gear, it means they only learn to avoid fuck-ups by experiencing them first, because if they'd be smart enough to learn the easy way, they would be smart enough to wear riding gear. - Since they're not wearing riding gear, it means they haven't fucked up yet, because they'd definitely wear riding gear after that.

Training shows you the bike will do what it does - it usually will straighten out if you keep calm, give or take a little power or hold on. The only weight transfer on the back is from acceleration and you’ll notice it slides when they transfer weight back on the (load) front.

Here in the Swiss alps, I've watched thousands and thousands of motorcycle riders go around crazy tight turns.. And never one seen an accident. In fact, motorcycle accidents are rare here considering almost everyone has a motorcycle. The difference is: we learn first motorcycle riding theory(the right way, not the American way) Then we go with a certified instructor on the streets.. Then we have a motorcycle test which is quite demanding. Only qualified riders on the streets here! These guys that you see in these videos would not last a few hours here before they cause an accident, and that simply because their lines through the curves are ass backwards!
@enut23
@enut23 5 жыл бұрын
While I'd agree that Europeon motorcycle licensing is far more difficult, that doesn't mean that everyone in this video or in this country would instantly cause accidents. All of this video takes place in Malibu California on one the most technically difficult roads I've ever ridden in 15+ years of riding. Not everyone is Colin Edwards, but you'd be hard pressed to find a faster group of people than the riders on this road at any given time.
@cattleNhay
@cattleNhay 5 жыл бұрын
@@enut23 yeah, if they rode those cornering lines here.. They would crash into a tractor on a left curve.. And into a bicycle rider on the right curves. Within a few hours. We have to ride totally different lines because our roads are so twisted and narrow. This road in Malibu is comparable to our highways in some parts, so for us this is a very easy normal every day curve we have on our way to work. It is sad that nobody rides the safest lines for cornering in America.. Not even the motorcycle instructors teach them, because they don't know them.. Because they are not on the same level as Swiss riders. It's a shame...

Living on the edge driving like nothing matters but to be super star in your mind and escape death or serious injury. Got a buddy who in his early 20s wiped out on mountain road with dirt bike and nearly died. He's in his 60s now and says he wakes everyday with pain makes him wish he was dead. Made him miss out on so much because he was stupid. See to many of them today and they think they'll beat the odds. The house is rigged against you. Know another man who lost his leg and that's forever. Everything has to be automatic or a 3 wheeler never be the same. The road wins the body loses the most. Wake up and feel the wind not the pain.

Decided to take a ride in my F150 to see the Snake. I wouldn't drag a knee here, there're are very few guard rails... you screw up... you go over a cliff. I'd also say the road is WAY TOO narrow, I saw one dude come at me with half his body over the double yellow line... he had to mid corner brake... stupid way to die... and if he keeps that up he will. What bothers me more than anything is the lack of guard rails on really dangerous corners, this seems common throughout California in the mountains. If your bike goes over a cliff you might as well just leave it because you're not going to want to pay to recover the thing... that's assuming you don't go over with it. The guard rails that are there are single barrier strip with a gap of more than 12 inches from the bottom of the rail to the ground... this means you go under the rail and hit the support posts... you'll be hurt bad... if not worse. They should put double row guard rails (only a few inches gap to the ground). California politicians are screaming about healthcare cost yet they allow unnecessary critical injury to happen because a bike or car go over a cliff (fire)... very preventable.

1st example, letting the trottle off is what caused the rear to slide. This is pure example of what happens with bike geometry and traction.

Why the rider at 2:00 close and open the gas for 3 times? Is that a way to avoid the highside?

It was traction control. The rider him self confirmed it.
@Kenshin851
@Kenshin851 7 жыл бұрын
Yall say traction control, but in the slow mo you can literally see his hand jerkin, it was just him getting bucked causing the open close, Only way to save a high side is to keep the throttle open until you straighten out so it doesn't hook up @Twist The Throttle. The rest of the time its usually luck.
@SethPortland
@SethPortland 7 жыл бұрын
I doubt that it was traction control. Rider was prob just shocked and blames it. Watch the slow motion. He closes the throttle when his rear tire starts to slip. He then applies throttle and stops leaning in order to gain traction. He then keeps cutting the throttle and leaning. He repeats the same mistake due to choppy throttle control.

trying to kill himself...notice the first blip after he almost went down caused the front tire to wash out and then he did it again after and almost went down again so yeah he learned what not to do that time...you cant save yourself in a car, truck or bike with the gas unless you are trying to get away from a bear

there's a patch of slick tarmac there near where the photographers are waiting - cos you see the same issue over & over when the riders are doing nothing wrong but the back starts to come round on them - that can only be cold tyres (unlikely) or cheap tyres (unlikely) or not enough grip from the blacktop - because you can hear that they are on a steady throttle yet the back comes round.

This turn must be a late spec turn, or a progressively tighter turn. They go into the turn thinking the driving line is going to be one way, but the turn gets tighter near the very end. It requires trial braking and anticipation that you can’t exit out of the turn until you see the exit.

Study after study have shown that leathers are not needed. They embed themselves in the wound wrecking havoc and infection. You are FAR better of bare skinned. Raw flesh allows you to slide with less friction while simultaneous debriding the wound.

LMAO "debriding" - the removal of unhealthy tissue from a wound. Said tissue which had been healthy and having only a millisecond before the debridement become unhealthy because it wasn't protected. I believe the accurate term is "degloving" - tissue being ripped from the body because it wasn't protected. The agony of degloving being followed by the excruciating torture when the ER doc must remove all the tiny bits of gravel out of what's left of your flesh. Yeah, that sounds much better then the incredibly unlikely event that particles of your gear will end up embedded in your skin causing minor and easily addressed irritation. But hey, all those road rash scars will make you look really cool when you get to tell the story about how you were too stupid to wear proper protection.

That is just wrong. You need leathers and armor. Marc Marquez crashes his bike all the time at very high speeds and never gets a scratch.
