Deactivated drivers need to start suing Lyft because we are being treated like employees and not independent contractors. What they are doing is wrong and they won't change their policies until drivers start suing. They are not supposed to have complete control over drivers, but they do. So we need to be comepsated for that and receive all the benefits of an employee or they need to give us the freedom of a true independent contractor. There needs to be a huge lawsuit against Lyft for deactivating drivers so unfairly. And I hope everyone that got deactivated is compensated for all their pain, suffering, and lost income.

You don't keep a dash camera? I keep one on at all times incase I come across a disgruntles passenger. And I have had a few. I once had a couple passengers who complained that I missed a turn in, into the hotel. With my dash cam, I was able to prove that the turn in that they complained about, would have forced me to drive over a raised one foot lane divider which would have damaged my under carriage. Uber did not correct my rating, however they did give me some lip service and stated that they would not pair me up with that passenger again. Once again, I don't care about the rating system, I think its a joke. But yeah. Both Uber and Lyft could not care less about the drivers, as you noted. And I could not care less about Uber and Lyft. On the road, I just worry about number one.

HI, new driver here. Had a passenger who was great, her boyfriend was a total jerk asking me 100 questions while driving. Thinking back I should have shut him down by saying that I need to concentrate on driving safely. The account was not in his name however I should have mentioned this in my star rating in comments. Good morning. Thank you very much for sharing this information and the advice thank you gave. I know that many of the passengers are very selfish and rude and the system is not fair. Lyft recently flagged me for navigation because passengers complained that the navigation system didn’t guide me correctly, that’s the dumbest thing I ever heard because the system is tied into the app. That’s clearly not my fault but as you said some of those people are like babies. I will take your advice and rate my passengers at the end of a ride if I suspect that they might be a problem. God bless

I drive Uber with a 4.94 rating and I got deactivated because some guy lived in the woods on unmarked roads and I was suppose to know where I was going, but since I didn’t the passenger said that I may have been drunk or high because I couldn’t figure out the roads.

I think your looking at this from the wrong way. It seems to me folks are forgetting that the driver is prompted to rate the rider before the rider rates the driver. I have found that if I give a passenger a low rating for whatever reason it only hurts me. The riders app tells them what rating they received and they in turn can give the driver a low rating or make false accusations against the driver and subject the driver to losing driving privileges. I found its alot easier to give a high rating and hope the riders follow suit.

For the drivers' right protection , they needs to be a new rules that challenges Uber and also Lyft. The new rules should have these characteristics: 1. Dashcams with from and back video should be made mandatory and part of the actual terms of service so riders can't complain when they see dashcams in the car. 2. When a rider complains to a level where it threatens to deactivate the driver, the rideshare company should ask for a copy of the video for a review to make a decision. 3. Drivers should be able to receive tenure. If they accomplish, say 2 or 3000 rides with good ratings, they should be given the choice to opt out of the rating system completely. If a rider has a complaint about an experienced, opted out driver, they should be given a phone number to call and explain themselves, just as they would with a taxicab company.That's what Uber and also Lyft should do for the drivers' right protection .

No matter what they do or say the pax has to be rated as they behave. I’ve had 3 bad riders out of 52. And let 3 too many get away. Not rating correctly is also doing fellow drivers a disservice too. 1star is reserved for damage to car, but it’s 2 or 3 depending on rudeness or behavior

With uber you cannot give a rider a bad rating because they have 30 days to rate a driver so if you give them a low rating it can come to you back and bite you in the ass...

What about revenge rating? The passanger sees their review instantly because us drivers have to review them before we can continue driving. So they will see that the driver has given them a bad review and then give the driver a bad review for revenge. The system is flawed. Rating should be hidden for 7 days to make it truly anonymous, like what Airbnb does.😒🎯

When a ping comes in you can automatically see the customer's overall rating and what if it's like a 3.5 or lower? If you cancel that will go against your overall cancellation rating. What if you get a series of low rated passengers and attempt to bypass that ride or not accept? This is a No-Win situation for drivers.

A non represented employee / contractor can be terminated at any time for as little as nothing. One should always bear that in mind. If that is un acceptable, then do not engage in that activity. The customer will always be believed. they have to.

I got deactivated from Lyft after they did the annual background check, i was in a very abusive relationship 18 years ago and I got arrested because I got tired of being physically abused and turned on him so I got arrested. I haven't gotten in any trouble since then but because of that one thing that happened to me 18 years ago i get deactivated. I love driving for lyft, I would NEVER EVER get violent on a passenger or do anything to put this job in jeopardy. Im upset about it and i hope that Uber won't do the same thing to me.

That’s exactly what I do. I had one those complicated riders yesterday. She threw ma car door, made racial remarks cause I’m Puertorican. Never replied to her racial comments cause in my mind I already knew what I had to do (report her after drop off) so I let her be🤷‍♀️. Soonest I dropped her off, app off and reported her. How can you tell if you’re account is being restricted? I’ve noticed that I’m getting fewer and fewer rides in the last few days. I was Uber’ing in Charlotte and was getting requests like once every 30 minutes on Saturday night. If you even been in Charlotte, you would know that that sounds bizarre. I think something is going with my account but I can’t confirm it. Everything is current. Is there a way I can confirm if my account is being restrict without asking Uber directly?

I've given every passenger I've had 5 stars. I've had really badly behaved passengers, but I always easily give them 5 stars. One time I picked up 3 guys who asked me to pick up 2 more guys who were kicked out of an Uber, and we laughed about how low the car was. Point is, I've dated an evil psychopath for a gf for several years now, unable to find someone else (she's the stalker type and I'm very nice). So, for me being able to be in a romantic relationship with someone that evil, while being loving and supportive, makes every single passenger I've ever had appear to be an angel. So, I've always had the attitude of "customers #1" and "I've got precious cargo aboard so I better be careful" and if they're mean I assume "this person is struggling mentally and I actually put out real love, kindness and support" offering to go out of my way to be helpful. So, I conclude to people that, if you date someone really mean, it makes everyone else look really nice. Or, if you date someone really beautiful it makes everyone else look really ugly, therefore ruining all of those relationships with tension. And, if you date someone really ugly, it makes everyone else look gorgeous, therefore helping you to like everyone else. So, don't get me wrong, I do love my gf. I just consider her insane. Also, I'm always kind and loving to her. I trained myself to. By training myself to love her, I've been easily able to love and respect anyone else.

You may not want to be condescending, but you are. Talking about treating passengers like children, when what you are truly saying is treat people like people. Which is what you are supposed to do in any service related field, it's called being a professional. Well I don't like the phrasing of your advice. How I feel about it would have a lot to do with how you execute treating your passengers as children. I'm more concerned about your attitude that they actually are spoiled bratty children will affect your overall rating because perceptive people could read your attitude don't like to be condescended to or treated in a demeaning way. If that's actually how you feel I'm actually how you feel I'm sort of an opinion you shouldn't be a driver.. When riders see the dash cam, they sit still like kindergarten and behave. I don't get baddd sober riders normally, only some try test what we will talk about... . Don't touch the hook
