I think something you missed is that the Nexos’s Battlefield Analysis isn’t restricted to using that ability once l across all Nexos, only once per battle round for that unit. So now if you have multiple Nexoses you can potentially reduce the cost of 3 stratagems across 3 units each with their own Nexos. Idk how useful that is, especially since we might not be spreading battle tactics everywhere, but I do think it is something to note

@@johnj.spurgin7037 the codexes were presumably made in the time when Genestealer cults were top tier and Sisters mediocre, so GSC ended up nerfed (I'd argue internal balance is better now though) and sisters buffed. I'd also argue that if there are only 2 different teems working on the codexes, GSC was done by the ork team because the abilities are very flavorfull even if not strong.

Well this was a rollercoaster of emotions. I REALLY liked the second detachment, the first new one, finally beeing able to play with my melee guys. I immediatly opened new recruit, building an army on the side while listeing. Then I was very sad that they did not get any deeepstrike closer strat, especially since you cant get democharges in range with them which would be awesome in that detachment. THEN I heard him say D6 S9..... and... I was crying, and happy? because now I dont want to take democharges anyway? But how do I kill T10+ tanks now?? Then they said rerolls wounds.. and Im like okayyy, maybe not tooo bad? And then they said mining tools are S5.... anti vehicle +4... sooooo how will I kill tough space marines? Terminators? any slightly tanky unit? demons? greater demons? tyranids?(jokes aside) it is literally only better against knights and guard, and MUCH MUCH unbelievably worse against any and all T3+ units EVEN worse against T6+ units (which there is a Fton of).. deamon primarchs and other monster... so thanks for making me auto lose to chaos and much weaker against anything that isnt guard or knights now I guess. :) ahhhh dont worry... you still have neopythes right? they have enough strength! just take a mininglaser then............. welp.. buuuut you still have the volume of seismic.. right? right?? why are you looking at me like that? RIGHT??? I closed new recruit.. SO now Im happy I only play GSC online and did not spend money on this army.. :) I am deeply sorry however for everyone who did. EDIT: not to mention how useless sticky objectives is, when you want a acolyte on there for CP anyway... this is so stupid

I really don’t like how there seems to be this trend of certain detachments in every book getting these unnecessary conditions on their strats and the GW is surprised when people choose more direct, immediate value based detachments. I had the same reaction to Deceptors in the CSM codex, like why do they have a situational detachment rule that does nothing after the game starts and have a bunch of conditional, pillow fisted stratagems? Whoever wrote that detachment seems to have written some of these.

After taking a day to recover I wanted to come back and summarize my thoughts, as at worst it'll help the channel. I'm incredibly disappointed. Yes, I think this can be theoretically fixed with points, but even that leaves us in an unsatisfying space. First, GSC armies are already 100+ models and one of the most expensive armies in the game, we don't need more models in an army. Second, the amount of hoops we have to jump through to get rules that other armies just have is ridiculous. Making us work for boosts can be interesting, but *you have to make the effort worth it*. And currently, this codex doesn't reward effort like, anywhere. Third, there is no real killing power anywhere in this codex. Aberrants, Acolytes, and Neophytes all lost 50-80% of their datasheet killing power on top of losing strat support, and unless I'm missing something nothing else is stepping up to fill the damage role. Even if we do get the points cuts that we are all desperately hoping we'll get, our *best* hope is that we're in an AdMech kind of place, except we'll have even less damage output than they do. We'll just shove our models into the opponent and wait around as they tell us which die while we don't get to do anything. This is all especially frustrating because there are interesting ideas here. We finally have interesting Brood Brother mechanics, except they're detachment-locked and nowhere near powerful enough to ever be seen competitively. Broodsurge looks like it may have play at first, until you realize your only good charge delivery mechanism is a single strat and that's it for an army all about fight. Outlander Claw is super cool, but all the relevant datasheets are real bad and somehow the Rockgrinder took a nerf, which feels like a bad joke. Cult Ambush is an interesting mechanic, except we have almost 0 interaction with it, it's random as hell, and against fast / teleporting / horde armies (and what's the meta right now?) we may as well not have an army rule. Given the stale state we've been in for the last 9 months I was really hoping for anything here and instead we got nerfed. I guess at least we had 2 months of being good though.

Do I see this correctly? I cannot have a full unit of Atalan Jackals emerge from a cult ambush market, neither can I do it with a 20 Neophyte (or Brood Brothers Guard unit) and it will be VERY difficult if at all possible to bring in a 10 Acolyte, Pure strain or whatever unit as it has to be wholly within 3" of the ambush marker??? That is just not enough space at all I think ok, I tested it... there is JUST enoguh space to fit in 16 neophytes with 4 heavy weapons (they have bigger bases) into that, if you use it all perfectly and all models are base to base to each other as tightly as possible... that's rough

Sadly you cannot shoot demo charges from transports anymore... as it is one per game weapon. On a contrary Aberrants now can get extra ap from RR and extra attack from detach and fight on death against reducecd dmg and fnp...

@@mocrispy8160 I...don't think so. I'm not an amazing player, so I could be wrong. But like John said, it'll bounce off a single -1/half-dmg vehicle basically forever. A single C'Tan, Redemptor, Avatar, etc will just stand there while your opponent laughs evilly.

Nicks take on “Return to the Shadows” being a good strat now is a bit weird. GSC are T3 and you expect a unit to survive shooting enough to go back into reserves?! Weird take is the nicest thing I can say.

1:25:30 the sticky for neophytes says it falls off ONLY at the start or end of a turn. As this is a newer publication than the errata, does it supercede it?

Didn't someone say that during the Custodes review? 😅 Jokes aside, I really hope we get some big points drops so I can have fun with these cool new detachments, because I've spent all morning coming up with army lists and everything (except maybe genestealer/ abberants/biophagus with mining tool Acolytes) feels terrible at their current point costs 😂

Atalan kit has 3 power weapons but GW missed that. Should be 3PW and 1GL per 4. Maybe GW will fix it

@OddNumber1524 So I've got good and bad news for you. The good news is GSC dex isn't nearly as bad as the Custodes one, and is at least playable. The bad news is you're going to have to wait at least a few months for your Custodes and Nids to get the buffs they very much need.

Now that we are seeing real unit changes, it would be easier to follow if you went through the Datasheets first, then the Detachments. Data sheets can stand on their own, but detachments don’t mean anything without context and that was a stumble almost every time.

I'm honestly still optemistic. I can't wait to try outrider claw and move it around the table like a mad max convoy. The benefictus is a meme unit and its glorious. A 3 wound unit with hazardous is so good, i love the idea it can blow its own brain up!

according to the goon hammer rules reading you guys missed that acolytes with auto pistols can have 3 mining weapons now so a squad of 10 will actually get 12 anti vehichle 4+ attacks!

I came to this video right after watching the sisters one hoping to see something similar to those amazing rules, yet i am here, watching how GsC has to be on a Sunday morning while a shooting star IS on the day Sky to have -1 one to hit in one phase and sisters can have that in an aura, army wide, and for blth shooting and fighting, just... GW please, could you be at least a bit more consistent with the quality of your work???

Almost everything I currently play got worse, meaning I would need to buy more models to make the army good (either because of points drops or to buy other models that are effective), and since I am a casual player this may just end up making me bring GSC less. I was mostly just excited for the brood brothers army, but now even that doesn't support the tank strats I wanted to do. In order to do the tank things I would need to ignore I think every stratagem in the detachment, and most of the detachment rule. Just depressing.

A trio of Benefictus (Benificti? Benifictiuses? Benifictodes?) in Rusted Claw with the +1 to Firing Deck enhancement shooting brain lasers out of a Goliath sounds like a lot of fun.

The only thing I see in this book that makes me interested to play is the Brain Bus. 3 Benefictus in a Rock Grinder w/Heavy Mining Laser in the Outrider Detachment with the firing Deck Enhancement. That's 6 Psychic Las Cannons hitting on 2+ and the Heavy Mining Laser adding a similar profile. It's a massive target but at the very least it should be capable of killing 'something'.

Everything sounds bad within the context of the army as we've known it as for the past year, that is not how we should look at these changes until points are finalized. I see the new direction as being an army where melee is more utilitarian than skewed towards a single model, where shooting units how now turned into tools to maintain objective dominance, and where once redundant units like metamorphs can actually have a unique niche as a mix between possessed and bezerkers. This is honestly the GSC I always wanted to run, I love my hunchbacks and have always been pretty exhausted with the amount of priority neophytes have gotten so its nice to see some love for the more mutated of the cult. Hopefully abberant changes reflect their new role as more of a uppper mid tier beatstick rather than a kill everything swarm and are given a points decrease representative of that. I think lists that skew more towards melee than ranged will do best, Neophytes are the only unit I'm a bit disappointed in, as I feel like the nerfs to their heavy weapons weren't necessary and kinda just make the unit mediocre for anything besides stickies and potentially redeploying. Maybe if they're costed VERY efficiently they'll be useful, but if not, I think they'll be taken as a tap and go unit that you take maybe 2 to 3 of and then focus on the more interesting skirmisher units like the flamers and autopistols. This is toughlove to create build diversity.

This is a great way to look at it. So many people shitting on it but there's a lot of ways to play other than spamming hordes and killing stuff. I can't wait to play outrider claw and start an objective scramble. Drive my bikes around the table backed up by ridgerunners while rockgrinders smash into enemy units and engage them, metamorphs pouring out to join in. Shit is gonna be wild.

This is great yes, but only IF we get the pointscuts... which is far from guranteed considering how looooong it took for example drukhari and Admech to get fixed, hell tyranids and CK for example are still waiting for their desperatey needed pointscuts since the initial wave of 10th changes, infact both of them get CONSIDERIBLY worse next missionpack with the removal of OC 0 scoring. So yes, instead of GSC getting saved with points, they might even be ruined further.

the kelermorph and metamorphs got WAY better, also the Patri can take enhancements now, but its still sadly locked to 1.... This is nothing compared to the horrendous beating GSC got though...

Your audio quality is quite bad, for a video that is almost exclusively audio content, you should definitely focused on improving the audio above all else

despite how it looked these where good changes, going of just the leaders, (magus, Sanctus, Kelemorph, Iconward, Jackal Alpha) all Buffed, (Nexos, Saboteur, Biophagus) nerfed, (Calmavus, Abominant) wher give and take. (Patriarch, Primus and Locus) No changes. so not looking that bad for leaders.

The problem is that Nexos, Saboteur, and Biophagus were all leaders you took, and for the first two, often multiple. The buffs to the others don't make up the difference, and we were already a C tier army.

You cannot polish a turd, and I'm afraid this is decidedly fecal codex. The removal of the brood brothers allowance from all but one detachment is unfun and unflavourful. The large number of nerfs are nowhere near balanced by the few unexciting buffs. I'm hopeful that balance datasgeet updates will undo some of these changes because as is, it's not inspiring.

@@Kamakrazee and power weapons are broadly dialed back to damage 2 so they no longer one shot elite infantry. So this is more in line with other codecies. I doubt an aberrant is stronger than a superhuman in terminator armor. On par sure
