I’ve had a truck driver ask me, “Wow!! Did you feed that Chihuahua miracle grow or something?” 😂😂

I find that when people comment on how big my girl is, I reply with "to me she is a normal size dog, most other dogs are just small or ridiculously tiny like handbag dogs"

I think it's an unspoken rule that Dane owners must great other owners and their Danes with that level of enthusiasm

I get a lot of comments and compliments when I walk my black Dane, but it usually only happens AFTER people have passed us. Too scared to comment while they are too close to us. "That's not a dog, that's a horse" is a very common one. When somebody looks sketchy, I usually say, "Wanna come say hello? He's hungry."

We get... "that's a big dog" "You should put a saddle on that and ride it" "That's not a dog that's a horse" "Bet that costs a fortune to feed" "You're beautiful 🤩" and otherwise talking to the Dane and not the owner. Letting their smaller dog bark at mine and other things that that would be unacceptable for a big dog to do. "Who's walking who?" When my dog is walking nicely!

My fawn is extra tall so I hear lots of comments of the horse variety and Scooby-Doo/Marmaduke. Sometime I'm questioned why his ears are cropped. His original owner showed him so cropping is common.

I’d say this was accurate. Igby is a harlequin and even at his size everyone assumes he’s a Dalmatian. 🤦‍♂️

I've gotten most of the comments in your video. I have a 165 lb. Harlequin Great Dane and I get dumb comments about him being a cow or horse instead of a dog. Most people that have seen him before love him though. He's very friendly, well socialized, and loves the attention. 👍

I have heard so many of these already and our pup is only 5 months old! "So nice of him to take you for a walk today!" - every time I take my pup for a walk. "What kind of dog is that?" "A dane" "Ohhhh.... haha he's going to be big! Just look at those paws!" - Yeah, I know, that's why I got a Dane.

The Dalmatian joke about my Harley...I used to tell sure but I had a lift kit installed. When they passed couldn’t face,that again so now I have a Shiloh Shepard.

I’ve been taking my 8month old GD to a few local stores and just out with walks and I’ve gotten a lot of these. Hilarious. Most of the fedex workers see him in the front yard and just go “wooooaaaahhhh, can you meet me out here?!” Even though he’s on leash or tied up. Most my GD would do is get slobber on someone.

Food, poop, and riding are the three I get the most. Funny thing is, she is a little below average size. 100lbs and a little shorter too. I usually tell people, you should see them when they are big.

I have a sweet 7 month old pup that is a Blue Merle. I get the "Is that a mixed blue heeler?" or "That's a big Dalmatian!" When they find out it's a Great Dane I always get shocked expressions! Then they argue with me that I'm wrong. Finally I convince them that yes... this is a Great Dane I get "Well, I never knew they could be that color. Must be a mutation." Are you kidding me? -lol- I get this almost every time we venture beyond our home! Crazy people!

We hadn't had Lurch long and we live up a holler with only one or two people above us, all family. One day he was down in the road because he was getting a drink from the creek and my uncle came up the road from work and he just stopped dead because Lurch was just standing there in front of him looking at him through the windshield and he yells, "Is this your horse!?" It was then that I realized the jokes were probably never going to stop.

I can only imagine the “big” comments. We have a 75 pound (and still growing) Bouvier and she looks rather big because they’re such a fluffy breed. I constantly get comments about how big she is. My response is always that she’s the size of a male golden retriever. I guess bc she’s not a common breed it seems more impressive? I also get comments asking if she’s good with kids, only ever asked when one of my kids is standing next to her. My youngest is 4, barely taller than her, and likes to stand with her hand on our dog’s back. No, not good with kids at all. 🙄 😂 The horse comments comments would drive me crazy. People really think they’re the only one making that joke. 😳

I have have two fawn Danes. When we meet a barking small dog, I always hear "they'll eat you in one bite". My dogs just stand back and let the little dog bark. I just inherited a mini dachshund. Wonder how the comments will roll with the three of them. Take care Dane owners!!

My Dane is 9 months old and people can tell he is a still a puppy because of the goofy way he acts. Since he is already 145# and 34" tall I get often "wow that puppy is huge, how big is that thing going to get?" (Thing!) The horse, food, and poop are regular remarks too. I find it really amusing how many people tell me my dog is big,. Do they think I haven't noticed?

It's surprising how many people are wary of large dogs. I see people cross the road or avoid coming near me, even parcel delivery guys are shocked when she comes to the door next to me. Personally, tiny aggressive doge are more intimidating to me and I love dogs.

I have two great dane's and the question I always hear is : "do they sleep in de garage" ? Me answering : "No of course they don't sleep in the garage" 🙄. They have their own couch in my living room😂

I get "oh my friend has a lab too". My baby is black with white and will be 1 on Feb 10th, but very small thanks to a vet causing vaccine HOD. Hes only 96lbs and the size of a 6 month old dane.

True story, a neighbor had a friend visiting and they told my neighbor that they didn't know our HOA allowed cattle. They were serious, my neighbor had to explain they were our dogs!
