Few interesting royal title from India- 1. Chakravarti - "Wheel-Turning Sacred King" or Universal Emperor. It was used by Ashoka the Great and many other Indian kings. 2. Maharajadhiraja of Āryāvarta- (Great King of Kings of Aryan Lands) It was used by Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty( 730 CE-1036 CE) who ruled much of Northern Indian Under Nagabhata II from 795 CE- 833CE

As a Nebraskan, I can tell you that the Admirals play a very important role in our state. There was Östmark (Eastern March), the duchy, which had been around since the Middle Ages. @annasolovyeva1013 Жыл бұрын
@@keithharper32 nah. Medieval title Voivode (existing in all slavic countries) translates into modern glavnokomanduyushchiy or voenachalnik - or, in English, commander in chief. It's the historical position (not title/rank) for the commander of the army. It's literally voi + vode = warrior leader. Warlord. In our medieval past, voivodes could be elected (for a city's army) or when several armies united they chose the most respected leader. Strategos is the equal title from classic greek history. We generally have a lot of posh synonyms to "army commander" that mean nothing particular but that and sound great. They come from court poetry mainly, because there you have to worship 10 generals in a row and not repeat yourself. Most of them may be used as titles, but don't necessarily have to, so we can write most of them about IDK, Napoleon. The monarch with the title is just using some title he got from what we'd call today a military dictatorship (Serbian Voivodstvo/warlordship) showing off the fact he has an army. I'd say he's *clanging his weapons*.

Gotta comment on the fancy full title of Brazilian Emperors: “By the Grace of God and Unanimous Acclamation of the Peoples, Constitutional Emperor and Perpetual Defender of Brazil.” And the second in line for the throne had the special title “Prince of Grão-Pará”, similar to the “Prince of Wales” title in Britain. Grão-Pará in this case refers to the largest Brazilian province at the time that contained most of the Amazon territory and was administrated separately from the rest of Brazil in colonial times, so having an important member of the imperial family have this title was a way of promoting integration.

A thing to note about 2:34 and the "subjugation of all mountains": the Sumerian word "kar" meant both "mountain" and "enemy land", in the context that the Sumerians lived in the flatlands of the Euphrates while hostile tribes (think for example of the Gutians who toppled the Akkadian empire) lived in the Zagros mountains. In that sense Ashurnasipal's title likely refers to his subjugation of enemy tribes/kingdoms. Also, at 3:04 the word "xshayathiya" means simply "king", for example "xshayathiya vazraka" means "great king". It's the title "xshayathiya xshayathiyanam" that translates to "king of kings".

That’s why in Nebraska it was a total tragedy when Queen Elizabeth II died. She fought so hard for those whales. Even when the waves seemed too dangerous, she would let nothing get in her way. She would return unharmed every time, as if she had summoned a divine intervention. But on the fateful day of September 8, 2022, the waves were exceptionally strong. Yet, this would not stop the Queen, and she shouted to her men, “Do you really fear for your own lives and live comfortably knowing the whales are being slaughtered by the day? We were born in order to die! Whoever’s with me, jump on the boat now. Whoever isn’t, just stand on the dock and watch me take them down!” She sailed straight towards those whalers, rain and wind hurling around her ship. There was this one guy in the server who was the crowned prince who, as we conquered new servers, would continue to add more and more imperial titles to himself to the point where people stopped caring about his titles. I've been reading plenty about Ukrainian history (including the Cossack letter) over the last few months, and I'll tell you this: the length of the titles are quite memorable! The legendary correspondence between Sultan Mehmed IV and the Zaporizhzhian Host was, on both ends, full of rather long titles! According to one version, Mehmed's letter to the Cossacks read as follows (the titles are in italics): "I, _the_ _Sultan,_ _son_ _of_ _Mohamed,_ _brother_ _of_ _the_ _Sun_ _and_ _Moon,_ _grandson_ _and_ _vicegerent_ _of_ _God,_ _sovereign_ _of_ _all_ _kingdoms:_ _of_ _Macedonia,_ _Babylonia,_ _and_ _Jerusalem,_ _of_ _Upper_ _and_ _Lower_ _Egypt:_ _king_ _of_ _kings,_ _ruler_ _of_ _all_ _that_ _exists;_ _extraordinary,_ _invincible_ _knight;_ _constant_ _guardian_ _of_ _the_ _grave_ _of_ _Jesus_ _Christ;_ _trustee_ _of_ _God_ _himself;_ _hope_ _and_ _comfort_ _of_ _Moslems,_ _confusion_ _and_ _great_ _protector_ _of_ _Christians,_ command you, the Zaporozhian Cossacks, to surrender to me voluntarily and without any kind of resistance, and don't permit yourselves to trouble me with your attacks!" This selection of titles is incredibly grandiose in several ways! For one thing, the titles used by the Turkish sultan is actually far longer than the actual substance of the letter itself! For another thing, three of Mehmed's titles included "sovereign of all kingdoms", "king of kings", and "ruler of all that exists", thereby claiming sovereignty over the entire universe! He also claimed a divine mandate in his self-proclamation as "grandson and vicegerent of God" and "trustee of God himself". Of course, as you mentioned in the original comment, the Zaporizhian Cossacks responded to this by bestowing even more titles on the would-be invader... and they are about as complimentary as a certain other reply that was given to the crew of the _Moskva_ in modern times! "You Turkish Satan", "grandson of the Evil Serpent himself, and buffoon of all the world and the netherworld", and "nasty glob of spit" are some of the nicer ones. Thanks for reminding us of those titles! Just as it was with the buffoon of the 17th century, so shall it be with the buffoon of this century. Слава Україні! For the version of the correspondence that I quoted: www.researchgate.net/publication/238724081_THE_ZAPOROZHIAN_LETTER_TO_THE_TURKISH_SULTAN_HISTORICAL_COMMENTARY_AND_LINGUISTIC_ANALYSIS

Honestly, I think King of Kings has still not been upstaged as the best royal title. Any chucklehead can give themselves a billion names or call themselves "king of the universe" or whatever, but if a guy is introduced as the King of Kings, you remember that. It's simple but communicates absolutely everything.

@@RedXlV Emperor of all emperors and kings. That way no one can upstage you. It also circumvents the theory that a king is emperor in his kingdom ie equal to the emperor.

Closest I can think of is British monarch has the title "the lord of mann" which is 1 letter off being great but you say it the same so still pretty close.

For Ashurnasirpal, the title you are referring to isn't actually different Sargon or Naram-Sin's titles. Assyrian inscriptions were still Akkadian (and although there is a distinctly Assyrian dialect, a lot if it is more about some vowels differing and word orders, royal inscriptions were attempted to be done in a more standardized Akkadian based on the literary Old Babylonian dialect, although some Assyrianisms bled through). There are two words that are often used, kiššatum and kullatum, why are basically synonyms. Both of which can mean the world, totality, or everything. So it is just up to whoever is translating it into English which of those they want to use. In Neo-Assyrian inscriptions as well, as part of the list of titles, King of the Four Corners is usually seperated from king of the world/totality/everything with the implication that if four corners are being referred to here, it's the four corners of the world

So finally I know the answer, in the US if you are a professor, the students call you "Dr. Smith", but in Germany, you will be called, "Doktor, Professor, Herren Schmidt". Don't know why it is important that they clarify you are an adult man, but at least I understand the history of listing everything!

In some churches the leaders have long titles, such as that of Theodore II of Alexandria: His Divine Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of the Great City of Alexandria, Libya, Pentapolis, Ethiopia, All Egypt and All Africa, Father of Fathers, Pastor of Pastors, Prelate of Prelates, the Thirteenth of the Apostles and Judge of the Universe

Well, he was an admiral in the Austro-Hungarian emperor, they weren't landlocked when he got that title. He was the last commander in chief of the imperial navy, and a fairly good one at that.

This is from fiction of course but I always think of the title of Emperor Emhyr var Emreis from the Witcher series, one of his titles is "Deithwen Addan yn Carn aep Morvudd" or "The White Flame Dancing on the Barrows of his Enemies" which I always thought was a really cool title/epithet. It basically serves to show how brutally he deals with those who oppose him.
