When the first settlers arrived in Melbourne, which was named "Bearbrass", the First Nation people were asked, if there is more suitable ground to inhabit. They pointed to the Southwest end of the bay to which the settlers moaned: "Geee, THAT is a looooooong way off ..."

Newcastle is a great train ride from Sydney and the beach walk is serene. Go to Cairns and see the oldest rainforest in the world (Daintree), the waterfalls and swimming holes are zen like. The Great Barrier Reef is a must too, lots of adventures. Copperlode Dam drive is nuts and turns into a dreamlike view (On a early morning), Crystal Cascades is great for camera work, bright blue butterflies everywhere with fluro green trees.

You guys have such a cheery and enjoyable style to watch, and well done on this series of videos around Melbourne! Regarding your next time in Australia, all these comments on Tasmania are correct - it is absolutely a must-do, with a unique and pristine environment to explore. The Daintree rainforest is well worth visiting (the world's oldest, and still contains ancestor trees from which all the world's forests descend). On the other side of the continent, Broome and the Kimberley are likewise unique Australian destinations, with very much unspoilt and unique, often harsh, - but extremely beautiful - environments to explore.

Did the Q Train late December 2019, they had a party/disco carriage connected ready for New Years Eve the next day, except we travelled in the opposite direction, boarding at Drysdale returning from Queenscliff. The staff were fantastic and the food was magnificent. We had a private room, which was one of the sleeper cabins on the train. Brief history those carriages are some of the old rolling stock from what was called the Sunlander train, which used to travel the Queensland coast between Brisbane and Cairns from 1953 until it was replaced with a new train in 2014 called the Spirit of Queensland.

I moved from UK to Melbourne 18 years ago and the UK shocks me when I visit. Some of the differences I love here in Australia are the cafés and restaurants aren’t chain outlets with all the same food and public transport is cleaner, more efficient and actively encourages you to use it. Our dollar is very weak at the moment so now is the time to come from Europe and visit. The Q Train is still a new attraction with great history oh… and stone fruits is just a collective name for any fruits with stones such as peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, not native to Aus. 😉 Definitely need a return visit to see the Penguin Parade at Phillip Island and drive the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide.

I reckon your next trip should be Adelaide to Darwin (via Uluru and Kings Canyon and Kakadu NP) to Perth via Broome, then across the Nullarbor back to Adelaide. Or same but start/end in Perth. This needs to be done between April and October. Avoid the centre and far north from October to March. You could do it in a camper. You definitely want to go by road, not fly point to point. It's all sealed roads, 4WD not required tho it'd be an advantage for some of the off-highway sights such as the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges and the Henbury Crater (can be done 2WD but 4WD will be safer). Upon leaving Perth, head south to Cape Leeuwin where 2 oceans meet, Denmark giant trees, Albany and Esperance for the most gorgeous white sand beaches in the world.

King's Park in Perth, Esperance, swimming with whales, etc. on the west coast. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast near Brisbane. Taking the ferry from Melbourne to Tasmania and exploring there. Canberra for Floriade or Multicultural Festival. Great Barrier Reef in far north Queensland. So many options:-)

The best and cheapest trip is with myKi Tours. "Around the Bay in one crazy Day" VLine train from Southern Cross Station to Geelong. Quick stroll through the town. Back to the station. Bus 56 to Queenscliff via Cape Lonsdale. Searoad Ferry to Sorrento. Bus 688 to Frankston and from there the Metro train back to the CBD. Pack some lunch or frequent the local fast-food places and coffee shops along the way. You need a myKi card (A$ 6 for adults) and the fares will be capped at A$ 10.60 and A$ 15 as a pedestrian on the ferry.

Just a little bit of info, the Bellarine railway was once connected to the State Victorian Railways system and was broad gauge of 5’3” the same as is in Ireland (this was no mistake Victoria’s first Railways Commissioner was Irish) Victoria’s system still is 5’3”, the Railway from Geelong to Queenscliff was closed by The Victorian Railways to traffic in 1976 and was re-gauged to 3’6” narrow gauge for economy by volunteer groups and made in to a tourist railway at a later date hence is why it has a lot of rolling stock from other previous narrow gauge State Railways originally from Tasmania and Rolling stock and locomotives from Queensland which is where the Q-train comes from, the Bellarine railway also operates Steam locomotives on a regular basis 👍

If you ever decide to come back to Australia, there are many places to go and more to see. Do some homework and see what appeals to you, however, I would recommend a few days in Tasmania. It’s very small but there are some fascinating places to see. You can go walking or hiking to beautiful places if that’s your thing. One event not to miss is Mona, the museum in Hobart it’s eye popping. There are also a few places to eat there and the some simple Italian food is utterly delicious. Have a great light home!🇦🇺🦘

While in the Otway Ranges if there is not a huge fear of heights (my wife was fine and she is petrified of heights) there is the Otway Fly treetop walk, where you're walking on tracks and a series of connected steel grate gantries 30 metres high through the rain forest canopy of gum trees over pristine gullies with running creeks and lined with huge ferns and tree ferns and bushland. The walk also includes a spiral stairs tower that is about 50 metres high and there is cantilevered section where you walk out about 20 metres and your perched above everything below. And for the more adventurous, they have a zip line experience moving through different parts.

Did you take a photo of the menu so we can explain the ingredients? Risoni is the Italian word for rice shaped pasta. The fruit looks like a white nectarine, which is a stone fruit grouped with peaches and apricots, but it’s not native to Australia. You may have had half of one roasted and half of one fresh, which would explain the different textures.

i love how foreigners pronounce Melbourne, it's sooo cute and actually accurate lol. Us Aussies are such lazy speakers we pronounce it like melben or melbin 😆 also cost of living is terrible at the moment, so to us i guess because of our wages etc, it is expensive....way too expensive but i understand what you are saying!

We have much more luxurious trains here in Australia. The ones that travel across the whole country are amazing, the Indian Pacific goes east coast to west coast, and the Ghan goes south coast to north coast. If you come back I would recommend visiting South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. They are much less populated, less polluted and more laid back than the hustle and bustle of the eastern states.

"All good" is a standard Aussie response to saying "thank you", similar to "no worries" - at least in Sydney where I grew up. I guess it's an Aussie version of how most Americans will say "you're welcome" when thanked for something.

Places to visit in Australia which aren't based around Melbourne or Sydney? There's a lot to choose from: Perth and the south coast of Western Australia; Adelaide and Riverland, and the south-east coast of South Australia; pretty well all of Tasmania; Brisbane, Gold Coast and north-east Queensland; and Uluru and Central Australia.
