In this video, we are going to talk about what it’s like scooting in the city of NYC and my non-sponsored, unbiased review of the Hiboy S2 Electric Scooter.
Since NYC legalized the use of scooters in August 2020, many people are scooting around in New York City. We are going to talk about the pros and cons of using a scooter in a big city like New York City; and the pros and cons of the Hiboy S2 Electric Scooter (with a short comparison to the S2 Lite version). The Hiboy S2 Electric Scooter has been rated by many as one of the best electric scooters under $500.
I hope this video helps you decide if you should get an electric scooter in NYC, whether it is commuting to work in a scooter or just finding the fastest way around NYC.

Everyone be careful while riding in NYC! I live in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, a week ago I was commuting home from gym on my e-scooter, I was riding on Lexington Ave. and E 90th street, two guys(one of them was holding a knife) started rushing towards me while shouting at me from a distance in front of me. I felt something was really weird and off so I quickly turned around and went down the block towards 3rd Ave. They started chasing after me while loudly demanding me to stop and hand over my e-scooter and bag. They couldn't get me since I was going 20mph on my e-scooter and their sagging pants were hindering them, hahahaha! I filed a police report, hopefully they'll get caught soon. But yeah, everyone please stay safe and vigilant while riding, never know when these thugs will pop out and try to rob us of our e-scooters!

@@UrbanCaffeine yikes. I'm watching the video because I'm looking into scooters right now as I'm trying to replace my current bike. So sorry to hear about your scooter being stolen. This is my concern for my current bike. It's a flashy, foldable bike (with not such good performance) and just calls so much attention to itself

@@miguelm6307 I think scooters are harder to lock up than bikes. I don't think I locked my up properly. Definitely something to consider is if the scooter you want can be locked securely. Some people just bring their bikes and scooters indoors.

@@UrbanCaffeine NOOO!!!! I don't understand why these "manufacturers" don't just "weld" some kind of "small" loop or something onto the scooter so that it can be locked up. I'm not very "security-minded," In fact, I often choose to cringe at how seriously some people choose to take it sometimes, but I would like something- anything- to "physically" lock up to on it (I don't live in NYC though.) Again, I do not "understand" why "manufacturers" don't do it. Someone could easily just pick it up and take it as if it were "me"/"you" taking it! While it "can't" be "driven" (maybe- because of the "software") there's still probably about $100-200 worth of batteries and motor in it... and someone might be able to "unbrick" it somehow too. To me this kind of seems similar in some ways, maybe, to leaving keys in "your" car and the door "unlocked" while nowhere near it. There's a good "chance" "you'd" have your car when "you" got back- probably almost "certainly," in fact, well, maybe not in NYC or a city like it, but it's just... ... "irresponsible"- I guess. The tires and not having a way to lock it "reasonably" are the biggest things holding me back from buying it. I don't know how I would lock it right now. Any thoughts?

Hope all worked out. I thought these scooters could be licked via the app though in case of these circumstances? NYC and the country have become more prominently unsafe.

Great review! I live in Queens and work in Manhattan, right over the bridge. Planning on buying a scooter for my commute. Im looking into the Hiboy S2 Pro. Which is at 500 bucks. As yourself, i was looking into the Segway45 but that's an extra 200 more. My budget is 500. I do like and prefer having the LED lights undercarriage. As i do work at night.. All my research and reviews is leading me to the Hiboy brand. Thank you

Man, I just bought the Hiboy s2 pro and it's really a solid scooter. Im big 200lbs and it still runs a steady 19-20mph and goes the 8 miles round trip to work with barely a dent in the bat. I haven't range tested it but expect it to easily go 20-25miles.

one of the best scooter company on the market right now is Apollo. Their stuff is very high quality, yet affordable (best bang for your buck guaranteed), and it's a Canadian company so the customer service is on point! I am getting a Ghost myself, 35mph, something like 40miles range I think. I live in Montreal, the city is dense, but not as dense as NYC, most people, including me, still mostly travel by car unless we have to go near downtown, then its subway/bus. This thing will entirely replace both my car and public transit whenever the weather allows it! This will be faster than the car, faster than public transit, and cost 0$ to ride around.

This is my kind of review of a E-Scooter (Public transportation issues, commuting around, etc). I don't have a Car so commuting to/from work is either slow or expensive per week via Bus. I just got one a few minutes ago, hope this Electric Vehicle will work out for me! I had a off-hand Electric Bike and it was bitter/sweet at its best. I pay Lyft $10-$15 a day to/from work for 8 miles and this will cover it - it gets DARK quick so the lights will help see me.

If you're interested in upgrading to something that can handle the rough roads and get you a bit farther and a bit faster more comfortably I'd recommend going to Mini motors NYC or Voro Motors in NYC. Both of them have shops right in downtown, and they have great customer service. I bought my Dualtron Ultra 2 from Voro Moters and i love it. And I've bought parts and accessories from Mini Motors and they've always given me the best advise on what to get and how to install myself.

0:20 "NYC" should stop "patronizing" people people used to ride 2000 pound horses at >30mph without any "sort" of "license" and people were fine. Heck, "licenses" these days are given out like "candy" and cars are maybe something like 50-80 times more "dangerous" than the "fastest" scooters (they have that much more "energy" ((so cars should "actually" be very "tightly" "regulated"- as "opposed" to this stuff.)) (A 3000 pound car going at 65mph "has" about 570,000j of energy while a 250 pound "scooter/bike/whatever" going at 30mph- 30mph has about 10,000j of energy.) If someone "happens to" hit someone else that's a "civil liability" thing and if they do it "recklessly" or "on purpose" maybe a "criminal" one. Maybe there should be "reckless riding" laws and some laws for "very young" "riders," but that's it. These laws are "fear mongering" and "ignorance" imo. Thanks for your "video!!" Useful! Btw, I know I used a lot of ""... I do that for... reasons :-)
