In this video, I go for a ride in a 1937 Packard V12 at Automobile Driving Museum. I know this may be the same kind of vehicle like the '36 Standard 8, but the engine is the difference. Recorded on March 13, 2016.

WOW !!! At 0:59 the car actually started, and it was so silent running, I thought that when they started rolling, they were being pushed by a couple of guys helping out, because the engine failed to start. Talk about quiet !! I had to turn up the volume twice to hear the engine. That is remarkable, and the V-12 is not only quiet, but incredibly smooth running, like a fine Swiss watch. Small pistons, but plenty of them makes for quiet, smooth running. This beautiful old girl deserves a new battery !!!

A battery for it looks differently. But yes Packards straight 6 and 8 engines are so quiet. Saw a 1953 Packard Clipper straight 8.

What a work of ART! Looks like a smooth shifter! . Around 1971, I knew an old upholsterer that did great leather roll and tuck. I used to go hang out at his shop which was in his garage down the block. One day, He pulls up in front of my house just to give me a ride in a 1910 REO open air touring car. I bet the running boards were at least a foot off the ground. He took my dog and me around the block. Coolest old car experience I ever had, God Bless him! Thanks for this! Was once the greatest American car built. Very popular for Kings and Queens and forreign dignitaries.

A video well made! One thing that makes me rub my chin in confusion though 🤔. It seems that there were no turn signal indicators installed on this Packard by it's manufacturers at the time. When your driver escort made left or right turns, they were not used. Will be waiting for more videos ! Thank You !

These cars were designed to run fast all day on gravel highways in comfort. Granddad was a Packard man. He and is siblings were from the 19th century. When dad was a boy they would run route 23 from Columbus Ohio to upstate Michigan 70 mph on gravel like it was nothing.
@Johnkoth

Isn't that transmission a wonderful shifting example of Packard quality ? I would have liked to have seen much more, especially the engine. but, I'm happy to have seen this much. Thanks for the video. My family had a 1937 Packard Six, bought from an older Gentleman back in the 1950's era. It was almost new then, with paper wrappers still on the sun visors and the back seat, apparently never sat on. I would love too see one of these models again.

TO the 36 people who disliked this video of rolling sculpture, your view point is irrelevant and you have no soul. I would much rather have this car than a modern Cadillac or a brick 300. This is a vehicle that exudes class and presence without being flashy.

I agree with everything except the flashiness bit. This Packard is VERY ostentatious for the sake of it. While not inherently bad, I'd rather have a 120 four-door sedan on that basis.

My dad loved coming to the museum and I would give him rides in car we have in our collection. Apparently just a few weeks ago, he was struck and killed by an oncoming car on the freeway while trying to rescue a victim of a car accident. My dad was a good Samaritan and a hero. He was 63 years old. I miss him everyday.

Meant to be driven fast not babied like in the video there's a reason why Gar Wood got over 2,000hp out of the Packard V12's and internally stock up to 800hp which was over double the hp when he started and never had a problem they were indestructible. Then Packard reverse engineered those engines to develop the pt boat motor.
