I think the price would be higher for six people. The way that the fare is calculated for trains with private compartments should be as follows: (# of people x basic fare) + (# of people x Green Car* fee) + room usage fee** There may also be a minimum occupancy. If you’re traveling alone when a minimum of four people is required, you’d need to buy an additional three tickets. They don’t have to all be adult fares, though: you could buy one additional adult ticket and two child tickets (don’t forget the Green Car fee though!). * An additional fee charged for premium seating; on sightseeing trains like the Saphir Odoriko all seats are considered premium ** May vary depending on size of the party

The ice cream scenario reminded me of days working in the first class on the plane. We had to time it well to defrost the Cassata (Italian gelato) so that when the desert trolley presented to the passengers it would be easily cut and portioned. If the cassata were like the state you shown in the video, we get a pretty bad scolding from our senior.

High density walkable neighbourhoods with cycling infra and a robust local public transport system with national and international high speed and sleeper trains are where it's at.

@@judyjohnson9610 Until the decade of the 70s, in my country there was a efficient train transport system, both for freight and passenger transport, almost at the level of Japan. However, over time it fell apart. And, to top it off, there have been projects for the construction of a bullet train between Santiago de Chile and Concepción (two of the main cities that are at a distance similar to that between Tokyo and Osaka) and everything came to nothing. That shows how advanced the Japanese are in the area of rail transportation.

Ah... I love Shimoda and Ito. Superb spa hotels with all you can eat inclusive food, and lovely mountains and coastline too.

The coastal waters, and beautiful dark rocks... just seeing that made my heart ache with longing. Such tranquility.
