My dad was a marine and was at mateo for 10 years. He fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom and lost alot of buddies. While we were watching this he said hes pretty sure he knew Nick. And he use to walk up to the crosses all the time to say hey to his brothers. He started tearing up when he saw them crosses and ive only seen him cry but a few times in my 14 years of living, just shows how hard of a subject this is. Much love my man God bless and thank you for your service.

My family, myself, and tens of marines rucked my brothers headstone up 1st sergeant hill just a year ago (3/4 Marines India company). It was really beautiful to see this video. Whenever you make the hike next look to the far right of the main cross to find his headstone (Menachem Mendel Goldbloom) and give him a Lil Sumpin Ale if your feeling generous :)

The people you are stuck with everyday...only to end up missing them everyday afterwards...the friends you'll never see again and the friends that are there one minute, and gone the next. @akaoreoo9604, the best advice I can give you as a new enlistee is to be yourself. Don’t try to be like anyone else, but transform yourself through strengthening of your mind and body. Never settle for the status quo, but don’t hold yourself higher than the brother on your flank. Respect everyone, but respect yourself more than anyone. Seek the one true king with all your heart and mind and soul. Do all these things and greatness will cover you and protect you. Semper Fidelis

Good luck I've been out for 2 years. My best advice is to run as much as you can until you go. The first month will be the hardest adjusting. The second month you'll know the routine. Your 3rd and last month you'll be conditioned. In your last month try and get the DI to laugh or crack a smile. You'll understand when you're there lol. Lastly if you can get your wisdom teeth out before you go otherwise you'll regret not doing it in advance.

I made a lengthier comment, a minute ago, about “1stSgt’s Hill” we called it Hill 7. At 65 this olé Marine still rides, humps (backpack hikes, for the CivDiv.) and shoots (not as offed as I should). Semper Fi, new to the corps and trying to just learn as much as I can from my seniors and staff, as well as the vets that come along. You’re a great inspiration brother.

Brother, you got a new Sub. I spent my time at Lejeune; was only TAD to Pendleton twice. We were in the area of 1st Recon Bn. I couldn't even remember how to get there. We earned out life-long title but it comes with a life-long commitment. May we always speak the names of our fallen Brothers. Semper Fi

Just stumbled on this video. Seeing that climb and knowing what those crosses signify is humbling. Finding out that they are tracking not just KIAs but AD and Sui.. is even more heartbreaking. So much respect for you doing this to honor your brothers.

These rituals are important man, I'm glad you do this. Lost one of my close friends to an accident on our favorite road this summer. The boys and I are already planning the trip to his memorial next summer. Losing your friends is always shitty, but making sure they're not forgotten takes the edge off. Keep em rubber side down brother. Appreciate your service.

Thanks for the video. I lived in San Clemente and served in 3rd Battalion 7th. Marines, Kilo Company, 1st Platoon. I’m old now, was there at Camp San Mateo in 1985-89. Great times, a lot of pain, humped all those hills when they had real names not numbers. I was there before the 7th was moved to 29 Palms. I had a lot of friends in 2/5 back in the day as well. Good drinking buddies. Looks like San Clemente’s hasn’t changed with the surfer crowd! Sadly, all the memorials are new! Pendleton will always have a part of my soul! Cheers to all you young men that have given your life for us all. And, cheers to all you Marines that served.

Thank you for taking us with you to see your brothers. Thank you for ensuring our freedom. I was a civilian mariner for the navy for 10 years '13-'23, spent a lot of time in San Diego. Got my first bike in Chula Vista, learned to ride all over SOCAL. You just brought a smile to my face that hasn't been there in some time :)

Just watched this video on my TV. Last year I seen it when you tore up the helo pad on the 636 and just seen this one. I cried both times. I feel your energy thru the screen. You have a wholesome soul. I was trying to explain to my wife what you are doing and couldn't help but choke up on every word of it. Thank you for your service, sir. And I totally agree with your statement at the end. Alot of people don't agree with the wars we fight and alot of it doesn't make sense. But war is inevitable. Much love from 1 rider to another. I love you brother.

@brian636 thank you man for doing this! It helps me every single year because my dad was 3rd marine air wing in Vietnam and he passed when I was 19 and that was my best friend on the planet. I never grew up with a mother around so I’ve been alone per say since his death and it’s been hard and I look forward to this video every year that you do it because I lost him and a few other buddies out of the 5th as well! Keep doing what your doing man much love, and thank you for your service to our country brother!!!

I worked with guys that were marines, they all were the best partners I had, always on point, always focused, and always had your back. For twenty out of the twenty-five I worked the streets I had a marine vet with me, I never had a worry in the world in those years. I have mad respect for these guys... mad and total respect.

Brian, Always enjoy your videos and I can tell you are a wholesome person based off your usual content. But, man I have more respect and appreciation for you and your brothers. Watched with my grandfather who’s an old marine who still throws me around like nothing even though he is 80, he loved this video man. I think it brought him back a little. Made him think of his brothers from Vietnam that he misses. big love brother.

Ooh-rah, Warrior! I took my then girlfriend, now wife back to the MCAGCC-MAGTFTC a couple years after I EAS’d. I was as giddy as a school girl, and she acted interested, but I could tell it really didn’t mean much to her. You had to have lived the life to truly comprehend the going-back experience. I haven’t been back since, but just recently, I got to shake the hand of my last Company 1st Sergeant in 3/4, WPNS CO, who went on to become the 17th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Michael Barrett, at a Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation gala. It was an incredibly humbling and soul fulfilling experience. Semper Fidelis

It's always heartwarming to me to see fellow Marine Veterans paying respect to our fallen brethren and really just re-visiting the active duty Marines on base does wonders for their morale even if they don't know you. The young Marines need to know that it doesn't end when you take off the uniform for the last time. We were all insulated in our little bubbles when we served regardless of MOS. I know I've lost more than a few brothers/sisters along the way. Thank you for sharing the video with us. It gave that me that warm feeling. I take my family to visit and RV trailer camp at Camp Pendleton every year. MSgt, USMC(Ret.) '95-'15
