I’m 45 years old now..(your age Chris) I remember back in the day we would pack a couple old belts and throw them over the front of the skis to descent steep stuff. But we are talking about sleds that had a max lug of 1 inch.😂🤪

Throwing the sled in reverse is another alternative. I also still carry ski brakes in my tunnel bag for the super steep descents on crusty snow. Old belts cut down and bolted in a smaller circle, large enough to still slip over the front of the skis and cause drag.

Great tips! I should've use those when I was trying to climb that last time! LOL! Gonna have to come back and redeem myself in there.

Very interesting Chris, the climbing footage doesn't do that slope justice, holy moly! Always wondered how you get back down some of these gnarly areas, where it could be catastrophic if it got away from you. Would like to see what you all do on descents when the snow packed down and firm, great work!

If this climb would have been on hard snow pack, I would have avoided it for the reason of coming down. Certain climbs are only able to be done on certain days.

Hey Chris I love your channel and make me miss mountain riding and being on the mountain. I love your sled builds specially your boosted 9R. I wanted to know if you would do something different. I wanna see your outlook and you riding the way you do on the new. 2024 Polaris 650 Pro RMK. There aren't any good videos on that sled and you would be the best person to show it off and ride it and push it to it's limits.

I went down something like this last year and it was so hard packed my sled started going around and around on its side like a curling rock.. it stopped after 100 feet or so pointing straight back up the hill.. I had the shovel out a massive shelf to get it sitting good again to remount.. 100% the closest I’ve ever come to writing a sled off.

Great video. It’s nice hearing your thoughts as you come down. Can you also do a downhill approach for spring riding/hard snow conditions?
@ChrisBurandt
@ChrisBurandt 6 ай бұрын
If this climb was during spring conditions I would have stayed away from it. Reading the terrain is the only way to do this safely.

I have never ridden a Mountain Sled , but I have skied all of that terrain in the early 1980's For example at Alta UT where they told me that the snow was so deep and light that Snowmobiles were helpless and just got stuck. That's about the same era when guys first started building custom Mountain Sleds.. It looks like your Down Vest has Sleeves. What Brand is it? I need warm clothes for riding motorcycles in the winter and for snowmobile trail riding at night .. That is if there was any snow in Michigan .

So now you got me rethinking on my track length for a new sled I'm thinking of getting 154 for better monuver around riding in trees but a 165 for climbing. The thing is we all now you can side hill a shopping cart with a broken wheel if you were making this kinda desicion what would you prefer ?

ok thats like no deal ..if you a good cat. you jump the log going up..push the snow over the log on the way down. ..and glide right over. no hopping or off and on the throttle.

Just to be clear.. this was a Pro with Kahos panels?.. or you changed the skid and rails on a Kahos to Pro? You said it was a 165 Pro in the vid which helped keep the front down.. Asking as I have a Kahos now and I'm considering trying a Pro on my next snowcheck..

Chris - "That's why I ride a 165, that's why I ride a pro." Next shot of him starting the descent, clearly riding a Khaos. This guy could probably find a way to make it up that on an M7. The rest of us would need a 165 Pro.

@@ChrisBurandt Can you turn an AC ProClimb into a Pro? I need my Arctic Cat to be less Arctic Cat. You've certainly given me some things to consider whenever I decide to get rid of the old 153" M8000. Khaos or not.

Hi Chris. I have fox 1.5s on my 22matryx 163 khaos conversion. Where should I have them set for these types of runs. (1-3). I would have them set at f. 3 f track. 1 r track. 2 I'm axp yr size.
