His right hand is incridible. there is no waste in the move of the pick. And when your look at this left hand, it's like he is playing half the notes we hear .
@JamesWilliams-js4fo7 ай бұрын
Listen to how sick he sounds with that thing stock right off the shelf! It's totally insane sounding. Notice how gentle looking the right hand picking looks as he sits there playing. He's the kind of guy that just has so much magic in his playing it's incredible. I saw him in a bar in Florida one time and it was just crushing from start to finish! He's just a great guitarist. I've seen every great rock guitar player ( Van Halen, Joe Bonamassa ) and loved them all but this guy was truly scary lol.

the most incredible Malmsteen fact for me... he remarked that his mother said he was a natural from the first moment, but that he wasn't "so sure." he thought maybe it was just because he was too stubborn to not be great. (words to that effect.)

When I hear how fast, articulate, and precise his playing is, I wonder why more shredders don’t play scalloped fretboards.
@carlbaumeister34393 жыл бұрын
@@fadedbluejeans3680 I’ll trust you on that bc I’ve never played on one. I thought maybe it would be faster bc (I’ve heard) it requires less pressing pressure on frets. Of course, maybe I just think scalloped fretboards are faster bc Malmsteen plays so fast to begin with.
@carlbaumeister34393 жыл бұрын
@@fadedbluejeans3680 Thanks. I didn’t know that. Yeah, I’ve noticed on that Ibanez Steve Vai signature model (the one the the hole cut for a handle) that last 4 or 5 frets are scalloped.
@KD-nb3mp Жыл бұрын
@@carlbaumeister3439 The hard part about playing a scalloped guitar is playing it in tune. The second you press a note a little too hard youre out of tune. So it requires lots of control. In terms of playing fast its really no different than a normal guitar. Speed and accuracy is in your hands.

sorry to disappoint all YJM haters but no one can play like Yngwie! Coz he plays with heart, not brain. Anyone can learn to mimic group of notes perfectly, but only Yngwie can actually play guitar from heart. Not the best technician, but flawless one of a kind slide, vibrato and bend makes him best of the best.
@BOOSETO9 жыл бұрын
Only yngwie can play with heart? Your kidding right? The guy has been playing yhe harmonic minor and pedal point for 30 years lol
@agallagher59369 жыл бұрын
JayblesFromTO Yes, to say that only Yngwie plays with his heart is stupid. But it is also equally stupid to diss the guy's achievement. He's been playing harmonic minor for 30 yrs? Yes, and nothing wrong with that. There are plethora of metal/rock guitarists, but there's only one guy everyone associates with neoclassical (his copy cats are never that well known). He defines guitar-neoclassical. I don't always like Yngwie (prefers satriani, tremonti, govan), but what this guy did,is more than any of the haters can ever achieve.
@TheZeldalink099 жыл бұрын
Really? Malmsteen is the only one associated with neo-classical huh? What about Ritchie Blackmore who created neo-classical and is Malmsteens biggest influence?
@agallagher59369 жыл бұрын
Ritchie blackmore created neo-classical?! BAHAHAHA. Sorry i know he's yngwie's influence, but to say that he created neo classical, that's just plain ignorance. Yes, Yngwie didn't create neo classical as Eddie Van Halen did not create tapping. But ask anyone, 'who popularised tapping' you'll get VH most of the times. As is Yngwie to the genre neo classical. Van Halen is an icon to guitar tapping as Malmsteen an icon to neo-classical (in the guitar world).
@TheZeldalink099 жыл бұрын
Anton Amirwandi Whether Blackmore invented neo-classical or not, he did it first and did it better than Malmsteen and just as many, if not more people associate Blackmore with neo-classical as do Malmsteen.
