Things sure have changed from my time in the 82nd Airborne in the early 80’s. “Airborne All the Way”!

I spent 4.5 years in the 82nd, and never jumped an assault pack. I also happen to be one of the last groups of Joe's I know of that jumped a T10D and an ALICE in Airborne School

I saw 240 gunners jump assault packs into Saber Junction 2022 (Germany) departing from Aviano Airbase (Italy). They rigged it using the other method though - I made a block of instruction demonstrating this here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7eperl8ya7WZok.html A lot of times, paratroopers don’t jump assault packs because they don’t know how to rig it. That’s why I made this video to help them. It also depends whether their unit will allow them to jump Assault Packs.

@Pousinboots that was where I was going with it, just worded it poorly. For whatever reason, the 82nd has weird hangups about jumping assault packs, despite there being instructions in the ASOP

Thanks for the video, I just picked one of these up at a surplus store to use as a hiking bag. Like the idea of your name tape on the bag, did you just stitch it on or something a bit more exotic? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Yes the Brigade Standard for us is to see on our names to our bags to avoid mixing and loss of equipment. It’s just professional and organized 👌🏼

I was curious to see if this video would explain the white straps on the inside of the assault pack, in the sleeve compartment for the back stiffener/pad. I always heard it was for rigging with for airborne operations. Is it used with a different harness? If its too much to explain, a video about it would be really cool. Thanks!

Hey Michael! So that'll be for another video I'm going to make. Those integrated air items are indeed for jumping. The configuration is different and much easier. It'll be a while before I make it because I'm short on time lately. You'll see it!

Literally just good at running, and even then you’ll be fine.

Exactly! He's absolutely right. Maintain a good run time (Ideally below 14:00 for 2 miles) however the standard has gotten a lot looser since COVID. I ran 11:58 at airborne school but I think passing time was around 18:00 or something crazy easy like that. Aside from that, make sure to not leave any trash below your bed or on top of the locker. I got a spot report for leaving my full bottle of water under my bed. It's not trash but they considered it trash. So don't leave anything behind while you go on with the training day. Your bed has to be made to standard every morning too. So wake up early enough to shave and make your bed before reporting to formation. Don't be late! Or that'll be spot report! Good Luck!

@@pousinboots when i went to airborne school last year during the summer they had us just strip our beds and put the linens in our lockers to give the "basic training reception look like no one lives here" look. also they never timed our runs, just dont fall out during PT runs and you wont get a spot report
