Just go straight into rigging, rule#1laces out always, meaning when you choke a bundle of 2x6s or w/e, have good even spread on the chains and make sure the the hooks are pointed out (laces out) and if it's cross braces, like a metal on metal pick, always throw in wooden 2x4 softener so the chains don't slip and u don't lose ur load, just some basics...let the op know how many feet or inches till tension (grabbing weight) if ur in the blind etc.... be chill on the radio, don't need a system overload of information but at same time don't be too vague, learn the lingo, no afraid of heights, run ur ass off. Having played any sports in the past will be beneficial in you're depth perception for calling in a crane. Goodluck bro its a very fun and rewarding/satisfying job. Then u can operate one day. 🏗 like moi 😉 peace ✌ P.s don't be a Roddy nothing against it but if me I'd just go straight into rigging, its easy.

Hey Rey I’m seriously considering becoming a rigger. Any advice on how to get started in terms of training and certification?
@FrankieG7134 жыл бұрын
If you want to go about it on your own man its gonna be pricey to get your certs but my advice would be join the iron workers union apprenticeship. I joined the operating engineers local 450 union here in houston that OE union here is the only OE union that makes riggers but thats my advice bro. Join an iron workers union apprenticeship if youre not in houston and they pay for your training and certs and then put you to work

The invisible harness apparently. 15 guys up on the deck with no edge protection and only two harnessed in. It's actually shocking.
@snoopyshultz3 жыл бұрын
@@joshdaly2343 In addition, OSHA allows workers engaged in decking in a controlled decking zone to work without conventional fall protection at heights between 15 and 30 feet .I'm guessing you either never been on a site or you never been on a job of this scope. stfu kid sit back and learn the trade
@joshdaly23433 жыл бұрын
@UCVa0brzsQnnj-tJr7OC6Gwg go fuck yourself with your attitude. Your employer has a responsibility to provide a safe method of working for you as well as a safe area of work. What's seen in this video is clearly unsafe as an exposed edge 15 floors up is a lot greater than 15-30'. The guy doing the decking also has the responsibility of making the area safe before his colleagues go up there, this means installing edge protection or telling his colleagues to go down because it's not safe. Furthermore, if one guy on the deck is wearing fall arrest gear, so should everyone else, unless they have wings.

Hoisting plywood is neither rigging or an adventure.
@ringer87derek73 жыл бұрын
Moving plywood to where the carpenters need it on a high rise is the definition of high rise rigging. If you have never rigged on a 40+ floor tower then I suggest you shut your mouth. He also mentioned he could not move it with a pallet Jack. Which implies he knows to try and not use crane time and use the pallet Jack. This is high rise rigging 101.
@user-jj3tw1sr7o3 жыл бұрын
ringer87 derek I was a Machinery Mover and Rigger for 45 years and a member of Ironworkers Local 405. I have the utmost respect for my Brothers that erect steel. Putting two nylon slings on a bundle of plywood is not Rigging. Putting an entire floor of transformers and switchgear through an opening on the 30th floor of a building IS Rigging. Laying over 40 ton presses is Rigging. Hoisting priceless sculptures is Rigging. Jacking and sliding 500 ton transformers is Rigging. If a first year Carpenter Apprentice can do it, it is NOT Rigging.
@ringer87derek73 жыл бұрын
I know alot of journeyman carpenters who cannot sling plywood properly. Lol. I apologize for the harsh words. I still think hooking loads to a tower crane on a reinforced concrete building is rigging. Trying to service 6 different trades at the same time and also making sure everything is safe. Flying form tables in 30mph winds in the middle of downtown. That can be just as intense as hanging 100 plus pieces of iron in a day. Trust me.

@reycito67e Жыл бұрын
I am a carpenter therefore my rigging is for carpenters. Its not hard, the key to be a successful rigger in my field is knowing the sequence and history of the job. Ask Constantly about whats the next move. Keep a communication line with the foremen you're rigging for. Carry two radios proudly. One for the crane signals and one for job sequence. Never stop asking. It will get you places.
