Which windsurfing sail do you think it's faster to rig? With cams or without cams? Find out in the video.

Thank you - Point 7 and Andrea Cucchi - for making this video... I completely agree, and have wanted to make a vid like this for 10 years, haha! In fact I think it's a much MUCH faster to rig a 2, 3, or 4 cam race sail compared to an RAF (no cam) freeride sail. As you say the BIG difference is "inserting the mast into the mast-sleeve (luff-sleeve) for rigging, and pulling the mast out for de-rigging". The difference you show in this video between brand new Point7 sails is something, but it's not really big. However if I rig sails from 7m to 10m size - both Cam and RAF - from 2002 to 2015 - the speed to rig the sails with cams is MUCH faster than freeride sails from the same model year. The race sails I have from those years, have luff sleeves from 6" - 9" wide (not double luff, like your Point 7) and there are zippers at each cam! The freeride sails from the same years, have tight luff sleeves and A LOT of luff curve... and it takes a long time to get the mast all the way in (or out) of these sails, and you wrinkle the sail a lot (which shortens it's life). But with zips open on cambered sails, and a luff sleeve from 6-9", a multi cam sail it VERY EASY to get the mast in (or out). My technique is to insert the mast, then thread the extension and pull about half the downhaul tension. Then I attach the boom and fully outhaul. Then I pop the cams on, just like you do, it's super fast and takes about 2 seconds per cam. The I close the zips and finish the downhaul tension. Sometimes I think I can rig a full 8m race sail in the same time it takes me just to get the mast inserted into a 8m freeride sail, haha!
