Covers the right front and all of the setup needed.
• Spring rate (to low or to high)
• Ride height (setting above or below)
• Wheel offset (3 off, 60” centered, wheel spacer none)
• Wheel load (setting wheel load)
• Rear Steer (dynamic or static) 1/4 to ½ static
• Shock valving (bleed, low speed, piston type, high speed)
• Chain Slack
• Bump Stop (gap, bump, setting) if and when, but think about how it works.

It's funny when someone isn't running the front suspension higher to avoid hitting the track with the frame. Then it doesn't turn well now that the roll center is all jacked up, literally. But they insist on staying with the light RF spring. I have tried to convince them they need more spring rate. USRA was checking for bleed on the front shocks. They would depress the right front and unhook the shock to see if the car moved upward.

Allowing the car to move up is okay and I think we need to be doing that, but checking a shock for bleed I don't think the Series has any business messing with that.

What about having a high static ride height +8" and running a softer spring rate?

This is kind of one of those grey areas that I am going to say I am not an expert at, but I am going to give you my 2 cents worth. I am not the biggest fan of soft spring setup; I do like it when you can preload it against the shock. This is not legal in many series so we will not go there. • My 1st thought is why do we really need to be this soft? • Is this helping load to the front tires. • Is my ability to turn the front of the car getting better or worse. • Can we build good rebound to control a heavier spring. Yes, I think there are tracks that need more grip and a softer spring will allow us to make more grip. If we were to run it at a 9” ride height to build enough load to keep it off the track, then we would need to make setup adjustments at standard ride height. (toe, caster, camber) We are doing a soft spring setup on a car, both front and rear and it is working well so I don’t question it, and my fillings are still why. Not saying it is wrong, I am saying that we need to keep the car off the ground to race well. The one thing we can agree on it this: I have two cars, and both are very fast, one is on a 400 and 450 the other one is on 800-750, both take different amounts of rebound, but if it works, I guess do it.

what are your recommendations for setting ride? with driver or without? scaling with or without driver? i have seen both. how are you wanting it done when using all of the information in your videos?

I do it with driver, or weight in the seat.

The ride reference point is the center of the lower control arm bolt?

I don’t think you get enough credit for these videos. Especially for the shock breakdowns. Please don’t stop with the shock series. Too many people “gatekeep” shock tech (especially internal). Maybe do some more about load numbers. Maybe basic starting points for guys with using the average of the starting points multiple chassis builders. Far too often I’ve seen guys ask and be told “ask your builder” the sand goes for questions about front roll center. We praise guys who build their own stuff and pretend to encourage guys to do their own deal but always just tell them to trust their chassis builder. You know how many chassis builders where wrong 8 years ago? Ever look at recommendations for camber from 02? Fast Guys knew back then but major chassis like dirtworks had guys on 3 degrees.
