My mom legally came to the U.S. when she was 14 years old in the late 1960s early 1970s. She clawed and fought to her way to get through racism, hard work, and saved up enough money to buy a house. The stories she told me about the hard life she went through made me think of the ridiculous petty things I complained about my pampered life. Through her sacrifice (in addition to my work experience), I have a roof over my head and food on the table. Respect the older generations who worked their ass off so that we could have it easy.

I think you paid them the best compliment you could have given them. I’m 70, white and we loved these guys and all the other great black blues singers and R&B. So proud of these dudes, not even southern, but Southern California, born and bred! They were lauded as “Blue Eyed Soul”. Great job, young man.

You hear a lot of the arrangement, too, that you never heard before. When you were just bopping around, instead of sitting here listening carefully to the song..

Ty, you don't need to apologize for not believing that these were "two white dudes." We didn't know it either in my teen years until we saw the Righteous Brothers singing their music on television. Amazing music and what became known as "blue-eyed soul."
@1959truthseeker2 жыл бұрын
It was made in 1965. Remember this when a brother says. "WHITE PEOPLE HAVE NO SOUL!" TELL HIM "OH CONTRARE" Then treat him to this video. Oh also treat this video to your lady to. And watch her reaction to when Bill Medley says. "I fall on my knees for you." It will be priceless. Guaranteed! 🙂

Bill Medley (tall one) trivia: his daughter married Axl Rose back in the day, but had the wedding annulled after 1 weekend. Also - Bill is still performing at age 79, with a new partner. Filling Vegas showrooms (when the town isn't shut down). How amazing is that? What a pair of incredible talents.
@patticake46813 жыл бұрын
it was not Bill Medley's daughter that was married to Axl Rose. It was Don Everly's daughter from the Everly Brothers.

When this first came out, a ton of folks thought they black. Those voices! After Sinatra's time in 1964. I bought and played their stuff over and over. Still do. Brings tears to my eyes still.

MRM, a sad commentary about these two was that, when they started releasing records, they were played on the radio...until some stations found out that they were white, then some of those stations refused to play their songs.

This was the perfect blending of Gospel and Rhythm & Blues, coupled with Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound". Perfectly mixed and mastered, and melodic....This was what was called "Blue Eyed Soul"

Enjoyed the reaction, seems genuine. I grew up listening to Motown and it's true, these guys fit right in. I wish Black music culture would return to genuine soul. Can't relate to hip hop. Yeah, I'm a white guy in his 60s.
