It's sad how that has to be stated, I thought it was common knowledge, but no.
@JohnRodriguesPhotographer3 жыл бұрын
@@OriginalPuro you might find this hard to believe but back in the day soul music was considered a black cultural thing. This was back when I was a kid growing up and yeah I remember it being like that. Sometimes soul was a slang term for people of color. Like a soul brother period that was a very common term back in the '60s. so some of these feelings have carried forward and are hidden today as the verbiage is different. It would be nice if people stopped defining things by race or religion or whatever. Just realize once we're in the ground we pretty much all look alike just some are taller some are shorter some are male some are female.

No, they entertained the boomers when they were young and likely to make GenXers. Know your cultural history. End of WW2 made the baby boom (1946-1965) when the Righteous Brothers were little kids. They are masterful troubadours of the 20th century.
@BelindaTN3 жыл бұрын
annastine hammersdottir The Righteous Brothers began singing together in 1962. During what is considered the baby boom years as you said in your post. Baby boom years from 1946-1965. Both members of the Righteous Brothers were born before the baby boom era. They were both born in 1940. I would be considered of the baby boom generation. Born in 1960. My brother was born in 1964. He could have easily been conceived because of this song. Lol Though the Righteous Brothers were singing toward the end of the baby boom era, they were still singing this song during the time that babies were being born during the baby boom era. I said all if this to say, IT WAS A JOKE with much truth to it! OK????

When I was in my 20's, (back when dinosaurs ruled the earth) the Righteous Brothers used to play a gig every summer at an old converted sand-pit that was called Sandy Lake. It had a big raft in the middle where you could lay back and listen to the sounds drifting over the water. 🤗 They were an extension of the R&B and soul music of the times. Great groups like "Little Anthony and the Imperials", "Martha and the Vandellas" and the "O"Jays" were all popular with the "hippies" of the 60's and early 70's and we were open to discovering all types of music. (The Beatles played many R&B songs in their early years like "You Really Got a Hold on Me" and "Mr. Postman" which helped open our musical eyes to the sound of soul and they were the light that led many of us into our own musical adventures. One of the reasons they set the bar so high was their intense interest in self-discovering and utilizing music from all over the world.)
@paulrollings52914 жыл бұрын

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 88 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century. "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

So much great music came out of the 1950s 1960s 1970s and 1980s that I swear those four decades could fill up a century with music and people would be just absolutely beside themselves with the amount of great music for a whole century. I mean there were literally thousands of great musicians and groups and tens of thousands of great songs during those four decades so glad I was alive and most of them all except the early fifties. This is the gift we leave to you guys the more people that catch on to it and see how good it is and keep listening to it and enjoying it it could be like you say keeping great music alive and it doesn't matter what Eric comes in there's even some music in the '90s and the 2000 2020 that I like not as much as those four decades but their songs here and there that I really like..

It was nothing to us to hear these, one after another. To us, after growing up with all these classics(we did not call them that but we knew what we were hearing sounded so great and we loved everything that you're loving about them now)can you understand us now when we say thank God we grew up in the music era that we did and when we bristle a little when we say the 80-'s(85-89), 90's and 00's music can't hold a candle to our era(with just a few exceptions). Keep on what your doing. You are my "Soul and Inspiration" now.
