Great examination! I do enjoy Riley Sager but I always go in with the knowledge that there will be at least one twist too many. For me they are fun summer reads. I’ve not taken the time to examine them as literature though so this was interesting.

Agree 100%. I enjoy his books for a low stakes read if I’m in a slump, but you can trust there’s gonna be a nonsensical twist.

I just finished this last night. My copy of this book is filled with notations such as "dialogue sounds like Oblivion NPCs," "oh my god shut up kit," "this book is better not have a House of Usher/House of Wax-ass climax," "this annoying detective better be useful to the plot in ANY way," "yes, Carter, give us nothing," "KBYE rickypatrick see you never!" "Riley Ritter Todd Sager...please stop writing NLOGS." God I love this terrible novel. 11/10. So funny.
